For those unfamiliar with the story, the CRUSHERS had stormed Crusaders' Citadel with a combination of subterfuge and trickery capturing all the original Crusaders. Laserfire was killed in the assault and both Manta-Man and Blizzard were critically injured. Evergreen and Dreamweaver died in the final battle to defeat the CRUSHERS alongside their rescuers while reliable reports indicate Enforcer died in 1999 somewhere in Guatemala. Blizzard passed away quietly in 2002 after sucumbing to the long-term effects of his injuries. Manta-Man retired from super-heroics after the Crisis, staying on only as a civilian advisor to the new CRUSADERS.

The current incarnation of the CRUSADERS boasts a hero sporting the name MANTA-MAN but what relationship he has with the original Manta-Man, if any, remains unknown.
