I. This week's question is one I call 'Last Words'.
The way it works is, I'll give you the final words said by someone before
they died and you tell me the ep and person. Originally I was going
to limit it to immies, but I dislike prejudice of any kind, so they could
be mortal as well. These are all from seasons 1 - 3.
1. Stay noble, MacLeod. It's what you're good at.
2. Everyone's a critic.
3. Goodbye, Highlander.
4. This is it, Highlander. The moment of truth.
5. Over here, Squaw Man. Time to die.
6. Can't do it, can you?
7. I don't need to cheat, Duncan.
8. Still the best!
9. No need this time.
10. This time it's real.
11. Finish it, Highlander.
12. In the future, I'll remember to leave your friends in peace.
13. Why try to save her MacLeod? She's betrayed you before.
14. It's our kind who make history, not his.
15. Go to hell.
16. Stay noble, MacLeod. It's what you do best.
17. And remember MacLeod. All that separates us from the beasts
is the law.
18. Oh, thank you so much for everything.
19. It's not my fault. He made me what I am.
20. I'll kill you in a second, boy. Leave while you've still
got your head.
II. Same as I, from seasons 4-6.
1. Who the hell are you?
2. Damn! Outstanding.
3. Impossible!
4. It's now or never, Duncan.
5. You can rest assured I wouldn't offer you the same courtesy.
6. Thank you.
7. You're nothing.
8. And now you die a pig farmer.
9. It's beautiful.
10. On him! Now!!
11. So there was no way I could have killed that S. O. B.?
12. You are still Duncan MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod. Come.
13. But I don't believe I was wrong.
14. No. Just enough for you.
15. It's what we do.
16. I am the end of time!
17. I've waited 200 years for this.
18. Or will you say we don't have to do this?
19. How charitable of you.
20. Then let's go, man. My public's waiting.
III. Name all the loves Duncan has lost:
IV. I've been watching season VI this week and started (as I am usually doing) making a list of all the things that are different about season VI compared to the other five. I'm interested mostly in the tangible, objective things that are different from what we've come to expect from Highlander, kind of a continuity thing. Since we all have our own thoughts about season VI, I will also list some of the more subjective things you might list that are different about season VI.
V. The ABC's of Quickenings - in each of the following
places, a Q occurred. List who fought whom and in what ep.
Amusement Park; Bridge; Castle Ruins/Abby; Dock; Eifel Tower; Flower
Garden; Garage, Parking ; Haystack; Iowa(Des Moines, in honor of my vacation
to Perry, Iowa!); Jail Cell; King's Valley, Egypt; Loft; Metro Tunnel;
Nottinghamshire, England; Outdoor Stadium; Pompey; Quinten's Final Emergence(place
where it happened- Q is hard- Gimme abreak!); River; Swimming Pool; Theatre;
Underground Cavern; Vomitorium; Woods; Xavier's street; York, New (as in
New York) Zane's house on the Underground Railroad
VI. In Avatar, on the barge Horton/Ahriman conjures up images of Richie & Tessa to tempt DM. Name the episodes those 2 images came from.
VII. Name the 2 episodes featuring both Anne Lindsey & Amanda (they appear in current action, not Fbs).
VIII. In at least three episodes, the creep of the week brags about and/or displays evidence of hunting species other than Immortals. Who are the three (with episode, of course)?
IX. Ancient can be defined as anything before the fall of the Western Roman Empire in A.D 476. By this logic, how many is a "few" ancient Immortals? How many "ancients" have we met since that time? Name each one and the episode he/she first appeared in.
X. We have heard Duncan introduce himself as "Duncan MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod" many, many times. However, we have also heard others use that same phrase. Can you name the ep and who said it?
XI. Pistol-packin' Watcher: Joe carries a gun, and who can blame him? Name all the instances we see Joe brandishing it (okay, just holding it's all right too *g*) -- episode and circumstances.
XII. Immortal job descriptions! Match the job with
an immie, and give the ep.
1. Exterminator - disposes of vermin mostly through digestion.
2. Crash Dummy - left job due to unforseen mortality issues.
3. Hypnotist - just focus on my voice...
4. Mooch - ummm..I think somebody lifted my wallet...be right back.
5. Fine Jewels Collector - hope you don't mind my gas, though.
6. Government Reorganization - mmm...anarchy.
7. Bulls-Eye - I love to die and it shows.
8. Pharmacist - Honest, sir, it'll be ready in another hundred years...
9. Deoderant Tester - I've gone without a shower for 150 years, and
my BAN just keeps on keepin' on.
10. Sculpter - It's possible I've inhaled a little too much rock dust...
XIII. In the Shamless Self-Promotion Department, list the episodes where we see or hear the names of HL producers.
XIV. In which episode(s) does Methos say the one-liner 'Voila'? Name the eps and who he is taking to. (I LOVE the way he says this, btw. Almost as much as I love to hear Conner say 'TCBOO').
XV. One of the haunting songs we hear from time to time on "Highlander" is Queen's "Who Wants to Live Forever?" More than once (twice, that I recall, but there could be more), a character on the show has spoken the title of the song. Who said it, to whom, and in what episode?
XVI. "Where do all the headless bodies go?" I'll wager all of us have wondered at some point why law enforcement hasn't caught on to immortals, who seem to leave lots of fascinating evidence lying around. By now we're all familiar with the standard explanation that TPTB quickly realized that it would be too cumbersome to deal with the ramifications of all those headless bodies realistically. Nevertheless, Duncan has gotten tangled up with quite a number of law enforcement officials both in Seacover and Paris, and has had to try to stop the bad guys while at the same time protecting the secret of what he is. Who were they, and in which episodes did they appear? (I don't mean nameless policemen such as the ones Mikey accidentally killed - they have to be characters whom Duncan interacted with, and who figured prominently in the plot of the episode).
XVII. Animals play a supporting role surprisingly often on HL. Other than the ubiquitous FB horses, name three eps where (live) members of the animal kingdom have significant guest roles in the series.
XVIII. I really have four questions small ones
about the episode 'Money No Object'.
1. Name the mechanic Richie and Duncan found when looking for
a particular car.
2. Who did Duncan tell the mechanic he was (name and occupation).
3. What make and year of car were they looking for?
4. In the FB to Missouri, who did Duncan work for?
XIX. I've been thinking about minor, recurring characters.
People who show up more than once but aren't part of the inner circle of
the regulars (Duncan, Richie, Tessa, Amanda, Joe, and Methos), who add
flavor and continuity to the series without ever taking over. The
following is a list of every character I know of who appeared in two or
more episodes (in current action, not fb's, and counting 2 parters as one
story) but is not on the above list. Give the number of episodes in which
each of them appeared (name the eps if possible). Bonus points for
identifying which ones appeared in the opening credits. Double bonus points
with whipped cream on top if you can name any more I haven't thought of!
Anne Lindsey, Charlie deSalvo, James Horton, Maurice, Fitzcairn, Randi
MacFarland, Kronos, Darius, Kalas, Xavier St. Cloud, Sgt. Powell,
Rachel MacLeod, Renee Delaney, Cassandra, Inspector Lebrun, Mark
Rosca, Carl Robinson, Kenny, Commisioner Comanski, Angie Burke, Sam Thompson.
XX. As far as I ever noticed, only 1 episode included an actual on-screen reference to the supposedly American locale used in the series as "Seacouver." Name the ep, the circumstances surrounding the reference, & the 2 characters in the relevant scene.
I. This week's question is one I call 'Last Words'. The way it works is, I'll give you the final words said by someone before they died and you tell me the ep and person. in present day.
10. Diane Terrin, dies in "The Blitz".
11. Theresa, killed by Consone in "Duende" fb.
1. Duncan's hair is cut (no more ponytail).
2. The season is shorter (only 13 as opposed to 22, 20 or 18).
3. The barge is minimalist (I guess they had a fire sale *before*
the season started.
4. The katana has a black mourning band on it.
5. For most of the season, Duncan doesn't have any friends
around him (at least not that *we* know).
6. The barge is names Amadeus instead of Nobile.
7. Duncan drives the green Range Rover, not the Citroen.
8. All episodes filmed in France.
9. PW and EG in opening credits (first time).
10. No Richie (except in 2B and N2B).
11. Summer to fall filming in Paris instead of winter to spring
(only rain was on the ground for Deadly Expectations and Two of Hearts
- no real rainy days seen).
12. Duncan is more subdued, introspective, less happy (or *fun*).
13. AP was not in two episodes. (Some episodes, i.e. Deadly
Exposure, he was hardly in at all.)
14. Duncan only went to bed with two women present day - Katya
and Reagon Cole. Additional one in FB and N2B with Tessa.
15. Time span of one year from end of Season Five to Season Six.
16. Fighting style, martial arts, more Eastern. Chi Jung, rather
than more aggressive martial arts..
17. His clothes are more relaxed, more *Eastern* (No denim.)
18. Duncan is leaner, not as heavyset (as in season four in particular).
19. No Maurice in Paris.

VI. In Avatar, on the barge Horton/Ahriman conjures up images of Richie & Tessa to tempt DM. Name the episodes those 2 images came from.
As most of you responded, Richie's image was from The Hunters, when
he was told Darius was dead, while Tessa's image was from Avenging Angel.
VII. Name the 2 episodes featuring both Anne Lindsey & Amanda (they appear in current action, not Fbs).
As most of you knew, the 2 eps featuring both Anne Lindsey & Amanda
were Rite of Passage (where they didn't meet) & Reunion (where they
did).
VIII. In at least three episodes, the creep of the week brags about and/or displays evidence of hunting species other than Immortals. Who are the three (with episode, of course)?
Paillin Wolfe in The Darkness
Martin Hyde in Prodigal Son
Milos Vladic in Patient No. 7
Each decorated his lair with trophy animal parts and made some reference to his love of the hunt.
OTOH, K'Immies who hunted humans on a regular basis (a surefire method
for getting into DM's bad books) included:
Kuyler in For Evil's Sake
Johnny K in Glory Days
Kern in Line of Fire
Kanis in Leader of the Pack (although it's not clear if the hunt in
the FB was an isolated event or part of a recurring pattern)
Grayson in Band of Brothers
IX. Ancient can be defined as anything before the fall of the Western Roman Empire in A.D 476. By this logic, how many is a "few" ancient Immortals? How many "ancients" have we met since that time? Name each one and the episode he/she first appeared in.
Category One: definites...
1. "Pharaoh's Daughter"; Nefertiri, Constantine
2. "Legacy"; Rebecca (and possible Luther)
3. "The Revolutionary", Karros
4. "Song of the Executioner", Paul, Kalas
5. "Methos", Methos
6. "Take Back the Night", Ceirdwyn
7. "Prophecy", Cassandra, probably Kantos
8. "End of Innocence", Haresh Clay
9. "The Messenger", K'Methos, maybe
10. "Comes a Horseman", Silas, Caspian, Kronos
11. "Archangel", The Hermit (maybe)
12. "Sins of the Father", Alex Raven
Category Two: Possibles
1. "The Wrath of Kali", Kimir
2. "The Beast Below"; Ursa
3. "Homeland", Kanwulf (probably closer to 1200 yrs old...not ancient.
X. We have heard Duncan introduce himself as "Duncan MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod" many, many times. However, we have also heard others use that same phrase. Can you name the ep and who said it?
1. Family Tree, Ian MacLeod (fb): Your name will be mentioned with honour
in our oaths. DM of the CM!
2. Band of Brothers, Grayson: What do you say, DM of the CM?
Have ye no taste for grreatness?
3. Eye of the Beholder, Richie Ryan: I am DM of the CM.
And I'm Connor MacLeod. Same clan, different vintage.
4. The Watchers, Joe Dawson: You'll know soon enough, DM of the CM.
5. In Star-Crossed, Fitz says to Duncan "Oh, I get it. The great
DM of the CM is not allowed to change his mind" when he's pumping DM about
Anne.
6. Methos, Methos: DM of the CM. Have a beer.
7. Finale, Xavier St. Cloud: Such rudeness. It must be DM of
the CM.
8. Homeland, Mary MacLeod (fb): Let no man tell ye different.
Ye *are* DM of the CM.
9. Chivalry, Kristin Gilles (fb): You shall be DM of the CM.
10. Chivalry, Methos: DM of the CM. Duncan: That's who I am. Methos:
I guess someone has to be.
11. Deliverance, Sean Burns: You are still DM of the CM.
Come.
12. Promises, Rachel MacLeod: Och, aye. I love ye DM of the CM.
13. Archangel, The Hermit: Oh, so *you* say, young DM, of the
CM.
14. Armageddon, Joe Dawson: You're still DM of the CM.
Take it please.
15. To Be, Fitzcairn: Here there never has been a DM of the CM.
Never has been. Never will be. (horrid thought, hey?)
16. Not To Be, Fitzcairn: So this is the world without DM of the CM.
XI. Pistol-packin' Watcher: Joe carries a gun, and who can blame him? Name all the instances we see Joe brandishing it (okay, just holding it's all right too *g*) -- episode and circumstances.
1. Unholy Alliance 2: Joe shoots Horton
2. Counterfeit 2: He shoots at Horton in the cemetery before MacLeod
stops him
3. Cross of St Antoine: pulls gun from under the bar (I think), and
says he's going after Thorne
4. Finale 1: shoots DM when he steps in front of Christine Salzer
5. Brothers in Arms: has M-16 in the Vietnam flashback (actually this
one is iffy-- my hubby informs me that anyone who called an M-16 a gun
during basic training in the Vietnam era was forced to run around chanting
a very rude ditty which I will *not* repeat here)
6. Something Wicked: He shoots evil DM
7. One Minute to Midnight: two instances-- holds gun to Methos as they
enter Watcher headquarters; then in the famous who's-gonna-shoot-who scene
later on
8. Indiscretions-- has a gun in several places, I believe, tho I didn't
get a chance to rewatch it and see what these instances were
9. 2B/N2B--- in 2B, when Horton came along, and definitely in
N2B, where he went for the gun and Kronos grabbed it from him.
XII. Immortal Job descriptions! Match the job with an immie, and give the ep.
1. Exterminator - disposes of vermin mostly through digestion.
--> Caspian, "Revelations 6:8"
2. Crash Dummy - left job due to unforseen mortality issues.
--> Richie Ryan, "Take Back the Night"
3. Hypnotist - just focus on my voice...
--> Roland Kantos, "Prophecy" (also Cassandra).
4. Mooch - ummm..I think somebody lifted my wallet...be right back.
--> Benny Carbassa, "Vendetta"
5. Fine Jewels Collector - hope you don't mind my gas, though.
--> Xavier St. Cloud, "For Tomorrow We Die" (also Morgan PeeStain,
"Double Jeopardy".
6. Government Reorganization - mmm...anarchy.
--> Arthur Drake, "Warmonger" (perhaps also Karros, "Revolutionary").
7. Bulls-Eye - I love to die and it shows.
--> Danny Cimoli, "The Immortal Cimoli" (one could also make a case
for Willy from "Diplomatic Immunity", since he made his living in similar
fashion).
8. Pharmacist - Honest, sir, it'll be ready in another hundred years...
--> Keim Sun, "Road Not Taken"
9. Deoderant Tester - I've gone without a shower for 150 years, and
my BAN just keeps on keepin' on.
--> I was really going for Ursa, "The Beast Below".
10. Sculpter - It's possible I've inhaled a little too much rock dust...
--> Garrick, "Shadows"
XIII. In the Shamless Self-Promotion Department, list the episodes where we see or hear the names of HL producers.
1. Anyway, the first time we see one is in Watchers. When Duncan
walks out of Joe's store, we see "Kenneth Gord Productions" on the building
across the street. That got my attention!
2. The second thing we see is in Studies in Light. When Duncan,
Tessa and Gregor are walking outside by the racetrack, we see a trailer
with "Panzer" written on it. Very good!
3. The third time we hear a producer's name is Unholy Alliance.
Rick Davis is Charlie's ex-SEAL buddy and the cohort of Horton and St.
Cloud.
4. The fourth time we notice a producer's name is in The Revolutionary.
Duncan and the mortician are in the morgue waiting for the police detective.
He walks in and the mortician shouts his name "Detective Gord." He
has a walk-on, no lines. (I wonder if that is really him??)
5. In Deliverance, the captain of the ship is named Davis and his wife
is also in that epiosde, Dominique Davis.
6. In Not To Be, the customer in Tessa's gallery is played by an actress
named Eva Gord.
XIV. In which episode(s) does Methos say the one-liner 'Voila'? Name the eps and who he is taking to. (I LOVE the way he says this, btw. Almost as much as I love to hear Conner say 'TCBOO').
1. In 'The Messenger' he tells Duncan that some young sucker is always
gonna fall for it and DM says Richie has. Methos then says "Voila".
2. In 'Indiscretions' Methos says this to Morgan Walker when he confronts
him at the old power plant.
XV. One of the haunting songs we hear from time to time on "Highlander" is Queen's "Who Wants to Live Forever?" More than once (twice, that I recall, but there could be more), a character on the show has spoken the title of the song. Who said it, to whom, and in what episode?
1. "For Evil's Sake" - Kuyler says it to DM and the Baron in the flashback.
2. "See No Evil" - MacLeod comments on Randi McFarland's smoking, and
she says the line in reply.
1. Sgt. Powell - The Gathering, Road Not Taken, Innocent Man
2. Deputy Struthers - Innocent Man
3. Commissioner/Lt. Comanski - Free Fall, Bad Day in Bldg. A
4. Sheriff Benson - Mountain Men
5. Sgt. Herrald - Deadly Medicine

9. Inspector LeBrun - For Evil's Sake, For Tomorrow We Die, Saving
Grace
10. FBI Agent Palance - Return of Amanda
11. FBI Agent Jefferies - Return of Amanda
12. Officer Carter - Run For Your Life (He was a watcher, so keeping
the secret wasn't critical.)
13. Officer Kenny Warren - Run for Your Life
14. French Detective Malle -Unholy Alliance 2
15. CID Agent Renee Delaney - Unholy Alliance 1&2, Double Jeopardy
16. Inspector Bardot - Prodigal Son
17. Detective Gord -The Revolutionary
18. Detective Brent Mohan - Song of the Executioner
19. Detective Sheridan - Leader of the Pack

1. Sheriff Crowley - Innocent Man
2. Chief Detective Andrew Ballen - Eyewitness
3. Federal Marshall/bounty hunterl Mako - Under Color of Authority
4. Special Agent Matthew McCormick - Manhunt
XVII. Animals play a supporting role surprisingly often on HL. Other than the ubiquitous FB horses, name three eps where (live) members of the animal kingdom have significant guest roles in the series.
1. The puddytat (of course!) in Methusaleh's Gift. She was the one who
inspired the question.
2. The spiders in The Colonel-- this is why I said members of the animal
kingdom
3. The rottweilers in Leader of the Pack.
4. The jam-eating bear in Bless the Child
5. Kanwulf's raven of Odin in Homeland
6. The white wolf, really Cassandra, in Prophecy
7. The monkeys in Revelations
8. The racehorse in Double Eagle (thanks, Harmony-- this fits the question
as I only disallowed fb horses)
9. The bull in The Stone of Scone
10. The snake in Armageddon
11. Cows in the road in Money No Object

one, since the tape broke on me-- also don't know which part it was in)
15. The tiger which parades across the stage in Wrath of Kali
16. The witch's cat in the Shadows fb
XVIII. I really have four questions small ones about the episode 'Money No Object'.
1. Name the mechanic Richie and Duncan found when looking for a particular
car. REYNALDO
2. Who did Duncan tell the mechanic he was (name and occupation). JACQUES
BERRI (or BERRY) - THE GREATEST DIRECTOR IN FRANCE
3. What make and year of car were they looking for? 1924 PACKARD
4. In the FB to Missouri, who did Duncan work for? HE AND AMANDA
HAD A ONE YEAR CONTRACT WITH BARNUM & BAILEY'S CIRCUS.
XIX. I've been thinking about minor, recurring characters. People who show up more than once but aren't part of the inner circle of the regulars (Duncan, Richie, Tessa, Amanda, Joe, and Methos), who add flavor and continuity to the series without ever taking over. The following is a list of every character I know of who appeared in two or more episodes (in current action, not fb's, and counting 2 parters as one story) but is not on the above list. Give the number of episodes in which each of them appeared (name the eps if possible). Bonus points for identifying which ones appeared in the opening credits. Double bonus points with whipped cream on top if you can name any more I haven't thought of!
Picky little detail: Characters who appear only in both parts of a two-part episodes do not count as appearing more than once, and do not therefore make the list. However, both episodes will be counted separately for characters who also appear in other eps and therefore make the list. (Clear as mud?)

XX. As far as I ever noticed, only 1 episode included an actual on-screen reference to the supposedly American locale used in the series as "Seacouver." Name the ep, the circumstances surrounding the reference, & the 2 characters in the relevant scene.
As most of you recalled, the only on-screen reference to "Seacouver"
was in The Valkyrie, in the newspaper ad for the supremacist rally, w/
Duncan & Methos fighting over the paper in an endearing fashion.
