![]() | June 1999- Dawn of an Empire - The clan was founded by Legion1999 (Darth) as a clan that played only the StarCraft Demo on Battle.net. His first recruits were Tim_1999 (no longer a member) and just days later, Firefox (who later became Vakthoth_1999). 1999 wasn't really 1999 at this point... |
July 1999- Call to Power - The three-man 1999 clan expands to the Age of Empires: Rise of Rome demo and not long after, AoE itself, on the MSN Gaming Zone. The only members that played AoE however, were Vakthoth_1999 and Legion1999 who would become Darth_1999 later that month. This site also came into being. |

![]() | August - October 1999- Our Journey Continues - The self-identification period for 1999. We had no idea what kind of clan we were going to be. Little happened, with just a few come-and go recruits. The only members active were Darth and Vakthoth who played only Iron Age RMs..... |
November 1999- Transcendence - 1999's rise to greatness. A series of events took place: In this month alone the clan membership rose dramatically; the Deathmatch became the game of choice for the clan, and an individual entered the spotlight that would change the clan forever..... |

![]() | November 1999 - March 2000- The First Golden Age - The period when 1999 truly became a clan. We started picking up members, and gaining skill, like crazy. The site was completely revamped with a new, tighter layout and some spiffy graphics, courtesy of the Man, the Van, Vanwolb! Vanwolb showed 1999 the beauty of the DeathMatch, and within months our DM skill had improved dramatically. This led to us finally picking up a substantial amount of active players. Some of our aces included PePe_1999, Tabasco_1999, and Platinum_1999, as well as Vak and Darth. This period also marked our first female recruit, in Jewels_1999. Vak found his Greeks and later his Hittites, Darth found his Hittites and later his Choson, and the clan found itself and later its new leader... |
February 2000- The Hero - Wrath 1999, a.k.a. _Lethal_Ahab, a.k.a. Matt Connors. A true leader, Wrath was everybody's friend. He was the best combination there could've ever been of a kickass AoE player (both RM and DM) and a really nice guy. An indomitable Hittite player and a great friend, he took 1999 to heights we'd never until then dreamt of. He was maybe the only reason 1999 lasted as long as we did. A few months later we learned he had passed away in an automobile accident. I think I speak for anyone who knew Matt, when I say "Rest in peace, old buddy." |

![]() | April - June 2000- The First Collapse - Our downfall. Many members became inactive, and many of those who were still active left to join the upstart clan of Platinum and Warrior, which was called T2K (Thrill 2 Kill). There was a very bad conflict between Darth/Vakthoth and Vanwolb, which ended with Vanwolb leaving. Darth was doing pretty badly in school at this point, thus couldn't play AoE very often on account of his parents. The only members who were even remotely active were Stands, Tabasco, and Vakthoth. It was looking pretty bad... |
July 2000- Rebirth - We were falling, fast. At the rate things were going, 1999 was gonna fall completely. But all of a sudden... something amazing happened. Vakthoth picked up a few recruits, in Laterz_1999, Cajun_1999, and a few others. Then out of nowhere, Tabasco and Stands came back from the dead. Stands discovered Greece, his true civ. The skill level of 1999 hit a new peak. Members started coming in by the boatload. It was the start of our second golden age. |

![]() | July - November 2000- Their Finest Hour - We picked up a massive amount of top-notch players, and established a solid governing system for our clan. New recruits included Bullseye_1999, Crusha_1999, AptDweller_1999, CoLdKiIIer_1999, Harpua_1999, Scythe_1999, and a bunch of others. We reached a maximum population of 34, with 5 leaders, known as Elders. There were also two girls in the clan: BabyMel_1999 and Vixen_1999. There was a constant back-burner debate over what to rename the Elders, but it was never resolved. This site also underwent a fourth and final major overhaul, with a great deal of content and graphics added, including sections for StarCraft and Age of Kings (both games we tried unsuccessfully to expand into). At this point we were considered by many to be one of the best DM clans on the Zone. |
November 2000- The Fall from Grace - In November of 2000, something strange happened. There was a heated debate over the new clan elders and the clan as a whole. Everybody had a different idea for ameliorating the situation, and none of us could decide which to use. Bullseye, Chance, and a few other members left to form a new clan called L0ve, and Scythe and a few others left to form a clan called Fists of God, or FoG. Meanwhile, there was a huge conflict rising between Vak and Tab, which eventually caused Vak to leave 1999. A few weeks thereafter, Tabasco also left, and formed his own clan, the Little Rascals, which one might call the "new 1999," as just about all of its members are former 1999's. This may have been the month 1999 died, but we gave birth to at least three other clans in our lifetime. Not bad for something that started as an Iron Age DM clan..... |

![]() | December 2000 - March 2001- Latency - Since then, Vak has unofficially rejoined the 1999 clan, and plays Unreal Tournament and StarCraft under the 1999 flag. Darth still plays Age of Empires, the poor fool... Most of the members who didn't "officially" leave have become more-or-less inactive. The site is still updated every now and then, but never with anything really important. |
April 2001 - ?- Where Will Our Journey Take Us? - Good question. Perhaps 1999 will go off into another game, like Unreal Tournament or Diablo II. Or maybe we'll go back to our roots and give StarCraft another go? Or maybe we'll just wade out the time with Age of Empires, or expand to Age of Kings... As for this site, it will probably keep seeing not-so-frequent updates, unless something really does start happening with the clan. Where the future is involved, it's anybody's guess, really... Let's just wait and see how things turn out, eh? |
