To War!

- by Lady Teleri the Well-Prepared
Composed on the field before the Field Battle at Pennsic XXXV
Verses are added extemporaneously

Chorus:
Towar!Towar!
AAAe
Storvikgoestowar!
dcAGA
Towar!Towar!
GAAe
Storvikgoestowar!
dcAGA

Verses:
Wemarchtoblood-ybat--tle
AeAAGAA
Storvikgoestowar!
AAcde
Notation: c is middle c. C is the C below middle c. c' is the c above middle c.

So A is the A in the octave starting on C: it is the A below middle c. e is the e in the octave starting on middle c: it the e that's a third above middle c.

I can't think of a good way to notate the rhythm. It's a marching tune, so it's pretty steady. Most all the syllables get the same note value, except all the "wars," which are held for about 3 times as long. There's a rest of about 1 note value after the first line of the verse.

Okay, okay, I'll see about getting some sheet music up.

Any line of about six (or so) syllables can be used for a verse, followed by "Storvik goes to war!". Some that we sang before the Field Battle:

We stand with valiant friends
We fight for honor and justice
Bright helmets in the sun

You can be silly or funny if you like: I really like to fight!
Your gambeson kinda smells.
Fire, fire, fire!

You can personalize the verses very easily:
With Blackspear's stout strong hearts
Finn Donovan leads us out
A sea of blue and white

Just shove any extra syllables in using good Folk Song style.
