Storvik's Sea Captain

- by Lady Teleri the Well-Prepared
Written for the occassion of Baroness Johanna's descent from the throne of Storvik, March 26, A.S. XXXIX.

Storvik's sea-captain      six years at helm,
Johanna stands      - from Sudeborn, she -
In longship's bow.      Boldly she sails,
Leads summer raids,      roaming far shores,
Marshals her men      with mail-shirts and spears.
Gloom-weather comes -      we gather in her hall,
Drekkars at docks      during cold-time.
Rings given, songs sung      rightly she keeps court
Until sweet spring      summons her to sea.
But all things end,      even siren's song:
Johanna goes not      to ocean's embrace.
Six years at helm,      six years in hall -
Storvik's sea-captain      comes now ashore.
