In the spring of 1988 my sister and I saw this very sight in the late morning sky...to this day that experience has been with me. My uncle says it was a sign and that one day I would understand the meaning. I have not known of anyone else who may have also witnessed the beautiful circle of rainbows that day.

Years later, in the the year 1994, in my now hometown of Janesville Wisconsin, was born a beautiful white bison...by the name of "Miracle". This calf was born on a small farm just outside of town belonging to a family named Heider. The event brought thousands to see the calf prophecied to be a sign of the White Buffalo Woman's return. A sign meant to bring all the races together, in the awareness that we are all children of the same.

As the prophecy goes...the calf is to change colors 4 times before finally turning white once again. When "Miracle" becomes white once more, the White Buffalo Woman is to return bringing all the colors together in peace and harmony.

While I was researching "Miracle" and the many lives she has affected. I had a revelation....It occured to me there may very well be a connection between the symbolism of the 4 rainbows I had seen years before and the prophecies and references to 4 colors-symbolizing the races; yellow, red, brown and white. This may very well be just coincidence on my part...but nonetheless I feel a strangeness and wonder of it all even more so now.

Even now that "Miracle" looks no different than the other bison in the pasture...standing before him, something moves inside you. Such a sense of peace and tranquility, akin to the feeling of my carefree youth :), something special arrived with the coming of the calf-something that feels right.

I was filled with a sense of awe and wonder as seldom is felt in our adult lives. Like seeing the fresh green of spring for the first time. Lengths of fencing are carefully set aside, a closer inspection shows it to be completely adorned with all the many gifts and blessings brought by the many visitors. Spirit bags, dreamcatchers, swatches of skins bound with leather strips and beads, misc. personal items brought to bless the calf of prophecy. Such contentment was there with "Miracle", it is difficult to get back in your car and return to our daily life.

I pray for the coming of harmony for mother earth and all her children and the blessing this event will be. We all need to open our hearts and see spring for the first time again. We all need to heal the hurt all of us and the earth are suffering from.
