Here are a few samples
of what you may find in
Scarab.

THE PHAROAH
Ptemt-Kop-Cheom

The pharoah is a powerful card.  Very useful.  The name Ptemt-Kop-Cheom is entirely made up and has no reference to history whatsoever.  The image on the card is myself.  The quote is this:

KING:  A playing card bearing the picture of a king.

BLOOD DAGGER

The dagger is a cannon fodder card that has many uses.  The image on the card is a circle of 12 shadow daggers which signifies the number of aces of pyramids there are and the central Blood Dagger a product of my handiwork with a scanner and a paint program.  The quote is this:

Blood is a cleansing
     and sanctifying thing. . .
          --  Padriac Pearse

SCARAB

This is one of ten scarabs that are randomly chosen to be packaged with the cards.  It is essentially one of the jokers of the deck.  The image is a scarab that I have designed specifically for this game.  It is a variation of the logo's scarab.  The quote is this:

Those who want the fewest things are nearest to the gods.
          --  Socrates

GUARDIAN

This is one of ten guardians.  It is the other joker of the deck.  One of each accompany each deck like a standard deck of playing cards, which these can be substituted for.  The image is a photograph of a portion of another art project.  A clay mask.  The reason it is red is not because of the clay but because of my deftness with the paint program.  Viola!  The quote is this:

If you have to ask what jazz is, you'll never know.
          --  Louis Armstrong

EARTH SPRITE

This is one of my sprites.  The woman who I chose to be the sprite was the winner of some bikini contest from I forget where.  I happen to see her picture on the internet, and I liked the composition and the pose.  I added a set of wings and manipulated the picture a bit and my sprite was born.  The quote is this:

What everyone ends up owning.
          --  Anonymous

MERCHANT:  CLOTH

The cloth merchant is one of those ideas I had down for a long time but didn't know what to do with.  When I conned...er...asked my friend into posing for me (with great enthusiam)  the entire card fell into place.  Very colorful and funny to boot.  The quote is this:

It is meat, drink, and cloth to us.
          --  Francois Rabelais
