New House

Safe ensconced in lattice green and brown,
White grey cat watches with wide golden eyes.
Peering forth from wild grown hedge barely tamed,
Perched in leaning trees which rustle in close-knotted embrace,
Neighbor’s pet sits high in crooked niche, engaged in feline stare.

Through clear glass pane brown eyes gaze,
Atop creaking wooden chair before pale lit screen,
I turn and peer from square frame of lofted crystal glass.
The same breeze that ruffles long fur tugs at my loose hair.
I return the frank curious look, and smile my quiet introductions.
