Our team was in charge of finding flaws in the team 1 camera while
instituting design operational corrections. This evidence would have to be
admissible in U.S. courtrooms. It is up to individual judges to determine
case by case admissibility. It is not our duty to decide this admissibility,
but only to provide the evidence to be admissible as evidence under U.S. law.
While it is generally understood anything can be tampered with or
falsified given opportunity. Our design should be as tamper-proof as
reasonably possible. Our goal is to make this camera design as reasonably
secure as possible, but not so unrealistic that only James Bond could use it.
Real people, as well as officers of the court will be using this camera
along with military personnel. Therefore, this camera must be relatively
simple and usable. However, cost is not an option.
We found several main flaws in team 1's camera. Though these are
not fatal, they could be better thought out given time. The flaws are as
listed below.
1. The use of the hash function is susceptible to the Birthday Attack
Algorithm.
2. Use of time in the creation of the Hash number.
