DESCRIPTION
The CPOWS is a configurable weapons system used for dealing with large airborne or groundborne problems.  It is a spin-off of the Colorado MKII weapons pod.  On its turret is two hard points capable of mounting many different weapons systems and an advanced sensor/targeting system.  It comes in two configuration: truck cap or towed trailer.  In the camper variant, the system can mount on most trucks that can carry 1,000lbs. in the bed.  The CPOWS can be mounted on Ford 150 sized trucks or bigger.  This system is usually available through Bureau front companies (Caps R’ Us, Army Surplus) or stored in supply depot.  The trailer variant can be towed by any car with that towing capacity.  The unit can also be unloaded and used as a fixed site if desired.

FEATURES

TARGETING SENSORS: It contains the following sensors in the turret:
Visible Light Camera with Light Amplification and 10x magnification
Thermal Imaging system
Laser range finder/designator

AIR SEARCH RADAR: 5 mile range, airborne targets only.  Can track 8 targets at once and display 64.  The system can be rendered inoperative through jamming and interference.  The radar can be used to illuminate the target for radar guided SAMs, like the Swallow.

TARGETING COMPUTER: The computer links the radar, sensors, targeting headgear and weapons and welds them into one clear picture.  This allows the operator a better understanding of what is going on.  The computer has target recognition capabilities and assigns priorities to incoming airborne targets.  This allows for automated engagement of airborne targets.

TARGETING GEAR: The CPOWS system has a head mounted aiming sight, direct fire camera system, and the radar display/control.  The head mounted sight and direct fire camera are used for engaging ground targets and is simply aimed by looking at the target through a set of glasses or on the targeting screen.  Displayed on the glasses are weapons aiming points, rounds left and a sensor overlay, if desired.  The glasses plug into the radar/control section.  The flat radar display/control section is the size of a laptop computer.  It folds out to a control panel and a radar display.  The display shows weapons status, radar contacts, engagement mode, and other vital data.  This allows for engagement of airborne targets.  This can be radio linked to a Colorado RV MKII or a Bureau Laptop.

GYROSCOPE:  A heavy gyroscope is mounted at the bottom of the system that helps keep the unit stable and helps negate the recoil of the weapons when fired.  This allows the truck mounted variant fire on the move and allows the trailer mount to be fired without the use of outriggers.  It takes the gyro 1 minute to get up to speed.

WEAPONS HARD POINTS: There are two weapons hardpoints on the CPOWS system.  This method allows the operator to have flexibility on the choice of weapons.  The CPOWS system comes with all the adapters, mounts, ammo feeds, power connections and  ammo bins needed for the listed weapons.
