Soon after, having seized the late Hill's arsenal, Paul Twist chose to vanquish his own assassin, Matthew Philpott, having deduced his identity (Philpott told him). The killing took place at the back of a moving number 89 bus, with Twist strangling his victim. Thus, in under an hour the number of players was reduced to seven.
It was three days before the next death. A 'lover's tiff', it would seem, as Barney Jeffrey committed the terrible act upon his unsuspecting partner, Joe Woodcock. She was strangled and tossed into the River Medway. However, before her death, Woodcock had challenged her target, Twist, to a duel. She never made it to the duel. But then, neither did Twist, as, the next day, Woodcock struck from beyond the grave. A poisoned letter did away with Twist and his unlucky father.
Tom Brooke killed Kevin Millband, and Millband's mother, only to be strangled himself by O'Toole. O'Toole then poisoned the mouse of Jeffrey's computer, and completed the circle, becoming the only surviving assassin, by shooting Michael Russell, until this time completely ignored, in the back of the head.
