The Plains
You stalk along the path, dripping water. A cold breeze blows through the garden, making you shiver. Walking around in the shady interior of the garden wearing wet clothes was a good way to make yourself sick. Wrapping your arms around yourself to keep in what warmth you can you speed up your pace.
To your surprise four cream colored feline shapes appear out of the bushes to either
side of the thin path to seat themselves in your way. All of the Hunter Cats appear
to be strangely colored calicos. One is pink and gray with a brilliant pink mane.
One of the others is a pale blue and black, with a impressive sweeping blue mane.
Another is two shades of green, jade and lime. It has swept back ram horns and what
appear to be insect wings. The last is also blue and black, but it has a pink mane
and a tufted lion tail.
"Is there any end to this maze?" You ask dryly, perfectly
aware that Hunter cats aren't sentient creatures. To your surprise all four stand
and slip off down the path. When it doesn't appear that you're following they pause,
obviously waiting for you. With a blink you trail after. Was this some sort of trick?
Roughly five minutes later you're standing in front of the back door to a cottage.
Having passed several alternate paths on the way you're now grateful for the kitties
guidance. Eyes wide you look down to thank the felines that had lead you here only
to find that they've faded back into the underbrush. With a blink you scan the surrounding
area. Was that a door in the greenery? A sudden shift in perspective makes you doubt
what your eyes had seen so clearly before.
Turning your gaze back to the
door of the cottage you step forward to knock...
