Thought to be a close relative of the owlbear, the Grizzly-Bat is a large, predatory bear with wide leathery wings. It is an expert flyer and a deadly opponent. Their fur ranges from a light brown to dark black. Other than their wings they appear as utterly normal, large bears.
Combat
Grizzly-Bats have two main attack forms. The first is to hover above the prey and striking with it's teeth and all of it's legs. The second is to swoop down and grab the prey, fly upwards while gnawing on it, and then drop it on to some nearby rocks. If there are several grizzly-bats they will attack en mass attempting to overwhelm the enemy.
Beasts have low-light vision and darkvision with a range of 60 feet.
Society
Grizzly-Bats are social animals and enjoy each other's company. However large groups of grizzly-bats can be bad for the surounding ecology and so they must split up in to smaller hunting groups. Grizzly-Bats als onest in groups and like inhospitable, hard to get to places like mountains and cliffs. They work to together to protect their eggs and rear their chicks and woe to the poor person that dissturbs them during this time. Grizzly-Bats construct their large nests from the bones of their prey and each individual nest is large enough for five Grizzly-Bats and their eggs. Grizzly-Bats that are trained from birth can make good mounts and form strong bonds with their owners. For this reason Grizzly-Bat eggs can fetch up to ten thousand gold on the open market.
