(my first freethought essay)

Disclaimer:
Firstly, I do not claim to have all the answers to the universe and therfore am not certain that there is no
such thing as a "god", but I refuse to jump to conclusions based solely on how society says I should feel
and believe!
Origin of religion & reasons why it survives:
Religion is nothing more than primitive Man's way of explaining the universe and all of it's glory or chaos
however you see it, but we are beyond that. We need to look at the universe, the Earth, and the Human
species in a new and logical way! The old ways are no longer relevent to today's society and not one
religion is based on factual evidence only the fear of death!
The ancient religions were simply there to explain the unknown, but the present day religions probobly
came from nobility trying to get a tighter grasp on the peasants. They told the unedjucated that they had
talked to "god" and that they could be the median between the peasants and "god". Well like all other
historical events this event was only to gain Money & Power! Don't believe me? What do you do on
Sunday at church?... You give offering! You give up your material possesions to the pastor (you know
that guy who should be the poorest if he followed the word of "god"). You see the leaders of the church
profit from your stupidity! Not only do they make plenty of "your" money, but this business (the church) is
exempt from taxes; the people who own the church are making all profit and what do you get? The same
old stories, and some guy says, "your sins are forgiven", then you are happy! This is so obvious, I can't
understand how anyone would go along with it! THEY ARE STEALING YOUR MONEY, YOUR
TIME, & YOUR MIND!! So as long as idiots continue to need answers to life's puzzling questions, the
churches will continue to grow and suck the life out of you And religion will continue it's crazy old lies!
I can't prove god DOESN'T exist, but you can't prove he DOES exist!:
The No one belives in the ancient Roman gods, we now know that zues isn't throwing lightning bolts
down every time he gets angry, we have proof to show that this belief is completely wrong, but it was
taken as a fact for centuries! So why should we believe that Jusus was the son of "god" and born to a
virgin (this was shown to be a translation error and should actually read born to a young woman, in no
way refering to the sexual purity of the girl)? That defys the law of nature and you haven't yet shown any
proof that he was even the son of "god" or that he existed at all, even though you've had thousands of
years to find it!
Christians, all theists for this matter, ask the same dumb question: "You can't prove their isn't a god so you
can't say he doesn't exist, can you?" Well there is a simple answer to this; just throw the same question
back to them, "You can't prove their is a god, so why worship him?" or "Since there is no proof that santa
clause or zues exists, does that mean that they do? Do you believe in them, just because they arn't proven
NOT to exist? So does that mean you believe in Allah, of the islamic religion, or believe in the pagan gods
too?" Any strong christian will be able to fight these points, but few will suceed in it! Don't get traped in
these ancient arguments, none of them hold up at all!
Is the bible proof?:
"The bible is proof!" you exclaim proudly... WRONG ANSWER!!! When you ask for proof of their
religion, almost everyone will give the same lame answer; "The Bible says so!" So does that mean they
believe that other holy books are correct, such as the Koran, since they all claim to be the word of
god!??? If you are one of the people who say this every time your religion is questioned, then you need to
rethink your answer! The bible is a BOOK, for those who haven't figured it out yet, and nothing more!
When you show me proof that "god" told these people to write the bible, than I might look as a reference
to prove that religion is fact, but it hasn't been accomplished yet! But for those who will still believe that
the bible is non-fiction, would you blindly believe me if I wrote a book telling you that "I am the son of
god, so everyone should worship me"? I really doubt it, but if you do then I can't say I feel sorry for you,
because it is your own choice to be ignorant! Also, try to explain the many contradictions in the bible,
there are tons of them! If you actually have real reasons to explain these then I am listening, but if not, you
need to re-evaluate your beliefs!
Why do people believe in religions?:
I feel that the main reason that people belive in a religion is to make sense of their lives, the Earth, and the
universe. By believing in a religion, people get a sense of purpose, but it is to worship a "god" and not
work towards the needs of humanity! I feel that the majority of people want to believe that the won't
simply die and cease to exist, so they make up a supernatural being that will save them from death and
take them to a happy place for eternity. I'm sorry, but everyone that thinks like this is a moron & needs to
start thinking, logicaly, for a change! I would like to believe that I won't simply disapear, but I am not that
weak minded to just have faith in a life after death just because it sounds good! I mean it sounds good to
think I can jump off a building and land on my feet unharmed, but I am not dumb enough to trust in it! If
there is a life after death, then it will still be their even if we don't belive in it! The same goes for a "god" or
any supernatural being controlling the universe, if we don't believe in him, he will still be their after we die,
right? What happens if you choose the wrong religion, will the 80% of the world's population that doesn't
believe in christianity go to "hell"? That is what the bible preaches, "do what I say or go to hell"! Oh, and
what if "god" is actually Allah of the islamic religion? Would all christians automatically go to Islamic
"hell"? Well christians say so, if you don't believe in christianity, you go to "hell" automatically! No one can
truly know the correct religion, that is if there is even a correct one!
Religion creates more questions than answers!:
Many people follow a religion so they can get answers to their questions about the meaning of life, the
Universe, and Everything, but religion actually creates newer, more difficult ones! Like...
"If "god" created the universe who created "god"?, and who created the creator?, and
who created the creator's creator?, etc..., etc...?<
If "god" is so smart, allknowing, whatever; wouldn't he have forseen that his creations
would use their "free will" to defy him and his laws!????? Where is the logic in
creating a universe, Earth, and Humans; then just letting us roam free without any
guidance? I don't recall "god" ever reminding me what was "moral" and what wasn't!
How about all the bull shit that religion throws at us? The religious claim to be
"perfect" (or at least as close to it as possible, but definitly better than anyone that isn't
religious); they also claim to be benevolent, kind, loving, blah, blah, blah! This is a
LIE! christians have apointed themselves as judge, jury, and exicutioner for all acts
concidered "immoral" by their standards! Want an example! Just look at this
page---> www.godhatesfags.com! Why would anyone want to worship a "god" that
hates his own creations? Can anyone explain this to me?
If "god" created us in his own images, does that mean that "god" sins, lies, cheets,
kills, commits adultery, etc..., etc..?
The thing that pisses me off the most, is that so many christians tell me that if I am not
"saved" by accepting jesus, I will burn in "hell"! What kind of ignorant self-obsorbed
fool would think that their beliefs make them better than anyone else to the point that
only they will live happily, in "heaven" when they die, while everyone else (good or
bad) that doesn't accept that there is a "god" or "jesus", will go straight to "hell"?
Why would I want to worship such a mean "god"? You say "god" / "jesus" loves me,
but if I don't love him back, he will torture me for eternity? That seems really
um...FUCKED UP!
If anyone can answer these questions, please inform me of the answers, because as I see it;
the religious are worse than the non-religious!
Christian answers:
When a christian is confronted with these facts, and he is told how it is improbable to believe
in a "god" that has never been seen, heard, felt (recorded with any scientific proof that is)
he will get all bent outta shape: and start quoting the bible!
Once the bible is put down as an unreliable source,
he'll say because of a personal experience,
but that still isn't proof;
So he will resort to the pitiful answer of "you must have faith, then you will
understand",
What kind of bull shit answer is that? I have to believe in something, that has no proof
whatsoever, (convince myself that a lie is true; ie: brainwashing) in order for me to
understand it! Whatever! What kind of stupid FUCK came up with that shit? Believers have
to say stuff like that, in order to convince themselves that they are right, thay are simply too
stupid to see what a fool they are to believe in something that has no facts to back it up;
ecept a 2000+ year old fictional novel (bible)!!!!!!!
Morals:
Religion is said to give us morals (ethics) for living, but who is to say these are the correct
ones? "god"? Well that is what people say, they say "god" tells us how to live our lives, but
that is so far from the truth that it pains me to think anyone would say such a thing! Humans
create morals and ethics, it is society as a whole that chooses what is best for the species,
not an allpowerful being! We do things because people want to do them, if the majority of
the people say, "it is socialy unacceptable to lie, or cheat, or steal", then it is moraly "wrong"!
"Good" and "Bad" and "evil" are all just labels for what is concidered socially acceptable and
unacceptable! People are able to distinguish between what is socially acceptable (good) and
what is not (evil), we shouldn't need a rule bbok (bible) for this! now, if the bible were to be
revised by removing all the bigotry, sexist, racism, hatred, injustice, stupidity, fantastic
claims, & illogical thinking, then it would be the best 5-page book of morals!

Religion is an excuse!:
People will: kill, start wars, terrorists bombings, let children suffer without medical attention b'cuz "god will
save them if we pray!" (while others will be prosicuted for neglecting their child!!!), commit hate crimes
"god hates fags!", or commit any number of crimes and get away with it by saying "the devil made me do
it", and just general hatred for your fellow man just b'cuz he believes differently than you! All of these are
done in the name of "god", "jesus", the "devil", whatever! And many states go as far as to grant special
privilages for people of a certain religion, this is just bull shit!
"Hey I know lets go kill off some Jews and Muslims, because they don't believe in the same
"god(s)" as us! Yeah, we'll just start a big 'ol war! Yeah, that's right, a war in the name of
"JESUS CHRIST!"
Um... for those too ignorant to have caught on to that, I was giving an example of what the christians do
(this applies to any religion), people are so brainwashed into thinking that they are right, that they just
decide to force their beliefs on others, or kill them trying! Don't believe me? Um,...the Crusades, the
Holocaust (Hitler was a catholic), Spanish Inquesition, Slavery; do any of these ring a bell? They should,
they all were justified using the bible!! If you look at any one of our wars that involved humans (that
would be all of them), religion had at least a small part in the starting of it! Try reading any history book
and see for yourself!
Final thoughts:
We must destroy all forms of organized religion and replace it with logic, reson, and science if we are to
survive and become great! Or to a lesser extent at least make people think and teach them to use their
brains, so they can make THEIR own decisions on what to believe! The time, money, energy, intellegence
expended to keep up the "faith" is a major waist! We must look towards ourselves for the answers to
life's mysteries and an understanding of the universe! We have a purpose in life, but it is not to serve a
"god", it is to serve Humanity! The philosophy of Humanism explains our place in the universe, the world,
and society, but it doesn't claim to have all the "right" answers only strong resons to back their beliefs.
Please take a long, hard look at what you belive and see if you can prove any of your beliefs without
resorting to "well I have faith", if you can come up with logical reasons for your belief in a religion then
great, but if not try rethinking your beliefs, Humanism may have the answers to your questions about life,
the universe and everything!
