What Every Kindred Knows
Most Kindred are taught the basics by their Sires. Others kind of pick it
up as they go along. All of the starting characters in the LARP (with a few
exceptions… see below) are assumed to have the following knowledge:
What Every Camarilla Vampire Knows....
- Basic understanding of being a vampire, including feeding, licking wounds
made by feeding, how to Embrace someone, how to ghoul someone, the Blood Bond
and Diablerie (but only that it is the most EVIL thing you can do, not the
"how-to" part).
- The Six Traditions (Masquerade, Domain, Progeny, Accounting, Hospitality
and Destruction) and how they are interpreted.
- The Clans of the Camarilla (Brujah, Malkavian, Nosferatu, Toreador,
Tremere and Ventrue), Sabbat (Lasombra, Tzimisce and the Antitribu
Clans) and Independent (Assamite, Followers of Set, Gangrel, Giovanni and
Ravnos), but not the minor Bloodlines.
- The Offices of the Camarilla (Justicar, Archon, Prince, Primogen, Whip,
Chief Harpy, Harpy, Keeper of Elysium, Sheriff, Deputy and Scourge).
- Basic reputation of the Sabbat from horror stories.
- Rough idea of where the Camarilla, Sabbat and Anarchs hold power (Sabbat
has East Coast, Anarchs have West Coast and the Camarilla hold everything in
between and most of Europe).
What Every Sabbat Vampire Knows...
- Basic understanding of being a vampire, including feeding, licking wounds
made by feeding, how to Embrace someone, how to ghoul someone, the Viniculum
and Diablerie (how to do it and that it is acceptable only in Monomancy).
- How to participate in the Vauldrie (but not how to perform it, unless you
buy the Rituals Background).
- The Code of Milan and how to interpret it.
- The Clans of Camarilla (Brujah, Malkavian, Nosferatu, Toreador, Tremere
and Ventrue), Sabbat (Lasombra, Tzimisce and Antitribu) and Independent
(Assamite, Followers of Set, Gangrel, Giovanni and Ravnos), but not the minor
Bloodlines. You also know of the Antitribu Clans by their proper names
(Brujah Antitribu are simply Brujah, Nosferatu Antitribu are
simply Nosferatu, etc...), and that only the Camarilla refers to them as
Antitribu.
- The positions of the Sabbat (Regent, Cardinal, Archbishop, Bishop,
Priscus, Abbot, Pack Ductus and Pack Priest).
- Basic reputation of the Camarilla from stories of mockery. Neutral
opinions of the Independent Clans.
- The existence of the Sabbat Black Hand (DEFINITLY not the True Hand
though) and the Sabbat Inquisition, but absolutely nothing about them (except
maybe a few of their most common positions; Templar, Inquisitor, etc...).
- Rough idea of where the Camarilla, Sabbat and Anarchs hold power (Sabbat
has East Coast, Anarchs have West Coast and the Camarilla hold everything in
between and most of Europe).
What Every Independent Vampire Knows...
- Basic understanding of being a vampire, including feeding, licking wounds
made by feeding, how to Embrace someone, how to ghoul someone, the Blood Bond
and Diablerie (but not the “how-to” of it).
- The a few of the more common Traditions (Masquerade, Hospitality and
Destruction, unless your a Gangrel, then you're likely to know all six).
- The Clans of the Camarilla (Brujah, Malkavian, Nosferatu, Toreador,
Tremere and Ventrue), Sabbat (Lasombra and Tzimisce) and Independent
(Assamite, Followers of Set, Gangrel, Giovanni and Ravnos), but not the minor
Bloodlines (minor Bloodline characters know of these Clans, plus the existence
of their own, but probably not the others).
- Unlikely to know of any Camarilla or Sabbat stations (except possibly
Prince and/or Archbishop). Gangrel are likely to know of all Camarilla
Stations.
- Basic reputations of the Camarilla and Sabbat, largely from rumors.
- Rough idea of where the Camarilla, Sabbat and Anarchs hold power (Sabbat
has East Coast, Anarchs have West Coast and the Camarilla hold everything in
between and most of Europe).
Now the exceptions: If you have Twisted Upbringing or if you are a
recently Embraced Caitiff or recently Embraced and abandoned by your Sire, you
may not know any or all of the above. You probably really won't know this until
someone sits you down and explains it to you. In the case of Twisted Upbringing
you'll have your own little list of what you know. You'll need to consult a
Storyteller.
If you think your character should know more than this, you may
buy levels of Camarilla Lore or Sabbat Lore during character creation. Camarilla
characters may not buy Sabbat Lore during character creation, and Sabbat
characters may not buy Camarilla Lore during character creation. Independent
characters and minor Bloodline characters may buy either or both.
Occult is
similar to the Lores in the sense that Occult deals with the myth and the Lores
deal with what are the facts.
If your playing a ghoul, forget all of this.
Ghouls may buy Kindred Lore, but vampires cannot. Kindred Lore x5 is the
equivalency of everything presented above. Why would you want to waste points on
Kindred Lore if your playing a vampire?
