It was a dark and stormy night. *It would have to be,* Kathryn thought grimly. *My life is so cliche.... Here I am, reading _Interview With the Vampire_ for the tenth time, dim lights, the rain outside..... ugh*.
Her eyes were used to the soft light, she had no problem reading the words. She almost had them memorized, anyway.
Upon finishing the book, Kathryn leaned back, staring at the ceiling pensively. She ran her tongue over her canine teeth, sharp, deadly. She'd had them extended just today, and damn they hurt. But soon.... perhaps she could talk one of her friends into a little fun with blood......
The light went out. Lightning flashed in the window and the rain began to come down harder. Kathryn heard light breathing and knew she was no longer alone in the room. A soft touch caressed her face.
"My dear little vamp...." came a soft, seductive male voice. "I've been watching you..."
Lightning flashed, and kathryn caught a glimpse of a pale white face, a fanged grin. She needed not state the obvious. And she felt no fear.
"You want to become like me, do you not?" asked the vampire.
She smiled, eyebrow raised, lips closed. "Yes...perhaps I do," she whispered in the darkness.
"You must give me an unconditional yes," the vampire teased. "Yes," Kathryn said, and lightning flashed again, showing the vampire's wicked grin as he went for her throat.
Kathryn gasped softly as the blood began to drain. And drain. Her heart was slowing , it was difficult to breathe. And she knew the vampire had lied.
Reading her thoughts, the vampire, snarled,"Did you expect me to tell the truth? I am the vampire, son of the Father of Lies. you underestimate me, darling."
The sky was dark, the room black as pitch. Suddenly another gasp came, the sound of a struggle, then silence.
A woman's voice. "No, my darling vampire. You underestimate me."
Lightning. Kathryn's new fangs dripping with blood. The drained vampire on the floor.
