Welcome to ChaosPixie's Shrine to Choujin Locke (literally "Superhuman Locke", aka: Chojin Locke, Locke the Superman). My name is Seb, and Locke is one of my favorite characters, hence this shrine. Special thanks to Shane, who introduced me to this character, and who has been watching the Locke movie since he was 10. This was supposed to be up in late 200, early 2001, but a hard-drive failure erased everything. Rebuilt and opened July 12, 2003. - Information - - Locke, the character - Locke is an apparently immortal being with various psychic (or is it magic...?) powers. No one knows where he comes from, but indication is given that when humans began space travel, Locke was there. When questioned, Locke tends to give cryptic or evasive answers (such as, when Lord Leon's sister Flora comments how young Locke appears, he points to a photo of Leon and says, "Oh, but I think this person is younger.") Locke often appears as a young boy or man with spikey green hair and blue eyes, though his eyes shift to gold when he's using his powers or actively attempting to appear human. Apparently Locke has taken other forms before as well, including a female singer. His exact limits of power are unknown, but they appear to increase over time. He has commented on his own limitations, but it seems more like he's trying to put people at their ease, rather than actually telling the truth. Among his various powers are levitation, energy spears which he can summon and throw, barriers, telepathy, the ability to take the soul of a human who has died and reincarnate it as a baby, the ability to exist outside an atmosphere, the ability to destroy something the size of a planet, the ability to focus and combine the psychic powers of others, etc etc. He is constantly dragged in to start or stop wars and personal vendettas over the centuries of the timeline of the universe, but his one dream (he claims) is to settle down in a quiet life and raise sheep. - Locke, the manga - This is a long-running manga by the artist Yuki Hijiri. Last I heard, the manga was 38 books long and still going. It's an epic series, with a timeline that extends centuries of the story's timeline, and takes place in the far future of humankind, after space travel has become commonplace. As rulerships and empires come into power and fade away, as characters in one story framework become past legends in the next, Locke is the only constant. An adventure and drama series, run through with a thread of melancholy, as Locke knows he will outlive all whom he meets, watching even Empires die while he lives on. - Locke, animated - So far, that I know of, there has been one movie ("Choujin Locke - Millenia of the Witch" 1984), and three OAVs. The first OAV ("Lord Leon") was released in North America dubbed as "Space Warriors", and the movie was released in North America dubbed variously as "Locke the Superman" and "Locke the Superpower". |
