This was drawn in the summer of 1996. I had been looking at prints of old Japanese paintings in the library. I liked them so much, that when I got home, I decided to try my hand at the style, by drawing an old-fashioned courtesan. I was also trying to ink with nib pens, and an inkwell, at that time. I didn't like it very much, and used the surrounding paper to clean my nibs for some time. Then, I decided it wasn't quite so bad. I scanned it in, and 'cleaned up' the ink trails. It remained like that for two years, until I put it back through Photoshop. I cleaned it up a little better, and added a patturn to the kimono. This is the latest result.
