Part Two
"Is everything okay? Are you guys alright?" Willow's neighbor came bursting through the door just as everyone had entered the living room. Angel was the only thing keeping Buffy up and they shuffled their feet to the couch Angel sat down first and guided Buffy down into his lap. He craddled her, and slightly swayed his body to rock her. Her thoughts weren't at all clear for the time. Possibly not ever, until her child was returned to her. Xander came into the house and weaved his way around the neighbor, approaching Buffy and Angel he knelt down to gaze into both of their eyes. Buffy was blank, no expression appeared except for pure pain. Xander knew that if he sepreated her from her husband, that she would fall apart, possibly for a second time. He was the only thing keeping her heart from breaking at the moment, that part was clear.
"Angel," Xander whispered. Angel acknowledged his friend's presense and looked up to his face. "I got Giles. He's going to help us find Jena." He wanted it to be kept quiet. He didn't want anything to get loose with the neighbor standing not 10 feet behind him. Buffy snapped her head up at the mention of her little girl's name. With the mention of a rightful and incredibly well equipted investigation already in order, Buffy felt that there still was hope. Hope that her daughter would return once again, safe and sound.
Angel gave a hard nod in recognition of what Xander had reported. Angel continued to feel a sharp pain in his chest. he wasn't sure of what, but he knew that that wasn't the only thing that was causing his threatened feelings towards illness. His felt queez and uncomfortable in every position he tried to sit in. Buffy kept his legs pinned, which wasn't really a bother in the fact that she was after all his wife, but he was dying to get out. His head was full of horrifying thoughts of his little girl being in the hands of evil. "She's so scard, Angel." Buffy brought him back to Earth finishing the worst of his thoughts. She pushed herself up with her hands on his chest and looked up at him. They shared shared a hard stare, contemplating each other's thoughts and fears of the situation. Angel retreated from her eyes and kissed the top of her head as he pressed her back down into his chest.
"Thank you, Henry." Willow approached her friendly neighbor and showed him to the door.
"Are you sure everything's okay?" He turned back around looking at everyone this time. Observing everyone's facial expressions. So far all he got was fear and confusion. And a lot of hiding of feelings. He knew something was up, but it was obvious that they wanted to keep it to themselves. He excepted the response, or lack of response, and turned to leave. Without warning her turned once again to Willow, putting his hands on her shoulders. "I'm here for you..." He looked up at looked everyone in the eyes, including Buffy's who was watching the, anticipating the man's departure. "All of you. Whenever, whatever, no questions asked." Willow took that in.
"Thank you." She gave her best impressioned smile of someone who was happy and escorted the man completly over the threshold and shut the door slowly but securly. "What do we do now?" She stood in front of everyone in the head of the room. Each set of eyes met everyone else's and shared thoughts. Thoughts of what they had done in the past when someone was kidnapped, or threatened like that. But everyone came up with the same response to the other's prying at their thoughts, "It was too dangerous." Before they had delt with the kidnapping of someone who knew how to take care of themselves, just the Scooby Gang and Buffy's mother, who had her own ways of being bitchy, and that was it. No one else unequipted to this sort of thing.
"What can we do?" Anya put some things into perspective. Narrowing down the list of ideas. Everyone looked down. Buffy saw it in their facial expressions and knew what was on their minds.
"No." She stood up. "She is not lost." Her hands were slung around her stomach, she didn't understand why it hurt. "Now, I don't care who we have to punch or pay off, we are GOING to find Her!" Her sobs overtook her body once again and Angel stood up and pulled her back down with him, returning her to his lap.
'Shhh..." Angel began to sooth her.
"Wait a minute." Buffy looked up at her best friend's voice.
'What?"
"You said that you don't care who we had to punch, right?" Recieve unamused stares. "Hear me out." He stood up and moved to Willow's side, gaining everyone's attention. "Angel, what about those damned Powers That Be of yours?"
Angel was a little confused, in fact he thought the boy was more confused than he was at the moment. "What do you mean? The Oracles are dead, they died a long time ago."Angel thought that that woud have shut him up.
"Yeah," It obviously didn't. "But, what about the others? You said that they weren't the only ones, and that they took orders from something else." This is deffilently something of their planning and I want to know why they are messing with us this way. For years, they have cursed you guys, literally and metaphorically, and I want to know why they choose to continue. And with your DAUGHTER none the less. I mean..." Xander let his emotions override him. He took a deep breath. "Thats my neice god damn it. And I wont let them have her." Buffy stood up and rushed over to him, hugging him tightly. He buried his face in her shoulder and hair. He was able to compose himself after a few minutes and they slipped out of the embrace.
She glanced around the room. "Alright..."Their heads shot up. "First things first. We have to figure out who took her. Then we do some God hunting." Everyone smiled in satisfaction. It had been a long time since they had seen Buffy act like...well...Buffy. The Slayer. Of course, she never really stopped fighting vampires and demons, except for when it was necisary, for instance th last few weeks of her pregnantcy with Jena, but she hadn't really been face to face with something like this, research mode worthy, in a long while.Their Choosen One friend had returned to her duties' calling. It was unfortunate that it was envoked by the kidnapping of her offspring.
