Relationships: B/A/R/Pike
Part Eight
Upon arriving home Buffy and Pike separated to different rooms. Pike was not sure what was going on. He couldn't really talk to Buffy on the way back due to the fact that he wouldn't be able to hear her on the motorcycle. She was still in a pissy and edgy mood, not wantiang to be touched or even helped off of the bike. As soon as they opened the dor Buffy ran up to her room, leaving Pike to dwel in the Living Room and watch some TV. Angel or Riley had deffilently pissed her off.
Buffy had spent the rest of the afternoon in her room alone. She did hear when everyone finally came back as well, she just wasn't sure who had actually returned to her house and who didn't. When they would talk really loud or argue about something really dumb she could make out Pike, Xander, Cordelia, Wesley and Giles perfectly clear it was the rest of the people she wasn't sure about. She knew ther must have been at least one silent friend roaming the lower section of the house. Towards the begining of their arrival Buffy got lucky after recognizing someone's whisper when they stood at the base of the stairway. "Do you think she is okay?" Buffy was sure it was Cordelia. But who she was talkingto she didn't know.
"Xander you can't make assumtions like that about people, you don't know if they're like that, or if they are up to something of the unnatural." Buffy heard a new voice, for hours, as Angel grew his tone to Xander after steping in to a conversation about the comandos' purpose. Buffy smiled with the way that Angel stood up to Xander and the misconceptions even though he knew that the person that he didn't particlarly like, Riley, was one of them. Standing up from her well marked spot on her bed she reached for the door knob. Before her fingertips touched the cool metal the door sudenly opened.
"Hey." Angel stood on the other side of the threshold.
"Hey yourself." Eyeing him at the fact that he didn't knock. "Sorry. I thought that you'd might be asleep, I didn't want to wake you." Still standing where he entered.
"Oh, and what didyou come in here for if you knew that I was asleep?" Buffy looked a little curious.
"I was hoping that you wouldn't be." Angel tried to give her his best smile, concidering her anger towards him.
"Oh. And what did you want to talk about?" She turned around and sat back down on her bed as she gestured for him to enter completly.
"I wanted to let you know that I'm sorry. Its only that I'm not used to seeing other guys with you. The last time I even remotly thought about you with another guy was when I watched you dance with Xander." Finally looking at her eyes.
"Oh, well that-"
"That was different. I remember. And it still is." Angel gave her a dead serious look. "I hate it Buffy. And I know you know that. But the thing that really gets me is that..." He stood up, trying to rethink the way he was going to put his words. "The fact that I'm human now, finally, and we've barely touched. That kiss earlier this morning wasn't something that you really wanted. It was what I wanted. Not you!" He tried to make his point sternly upon her thoughts.
"Angel,-" She stood up trying to meet his conversational stance.
"I want to know if I even stand a chance against Riley, I want to know if you and I would ever heave something again if Riley was out of the picture." Angel waited for her response, trying not to rush her.
Sitting slowly back on the bed once again. "I-I had dreams, or what I thought were dreams where you and I were together when you were human, for that brief time. But thats what I always thought they were, dreams. I didn't wake up and remember them. But-" Taking a shaky deep breath she tried to hold some tears back. "But every night I would dream of you and I and every night I would wake up smiling. Because in spite the fact that I couldn't remember what my dreams were about, until just resently, I recognized them as happy moments." She used a small sarcasmed voice as she laughed out a tear drop on her cheek.
"Buffy,-" Angel tried to comfort her in letting her know that it was okay if she didn't answer just yet, but she continued.
"Angel, you ask me now if I think that you and I would ever have a chance in getting back what we once shared. I will tell you this. Although I am confused about what is going on right now. Very confused." Whispering under breath of which he caught. "Those dreams, I had them ever since I left from visiting you and until you returned to Sunnydale." Buffy stared at him all the while he took it in. "I figured out that they were real. Not just dreams. Memories." Finally able to link in a strong stare with his eyes.
"Buffy...You know how I feel about you, and you now know how sorry I am to have had to keep this from you. But I don't know what to say...or feel about the pregnantcy." Unable to catch the word before he said it he realized that Buffy's expression began to change from frustration to powerful anguish.
"Please..." She held up a hand as she back up a step. "Don't." Taking her pitiful inquirey he moved on.
"Buffy, please give me a chance when the time comes. Thats all I ask." Noticing that she had taken at least that into concederation he gave a meaningless smile and walked away from the conversation to leave her in thought.
