No Such Thing as a Holiday
A Buffy the Vampire Slayer/ Home and Away Crossover
by Alexandra

Disclaimer: I own no one. Joss Whedon owns Buffy, Angel, Oz, Willow, Cordelia, Xander, Giles, Jenny, Spike, Drusilla, Willy and Principal Snyder. Channel Seven owns everyone else, including the town. Only the plot is mine.

I dedicate this to Merry, who helped me write this, even though you didn’t know it, and to S. who dared me to skip an episode of Home and Away- but I couldn’t. Oh and Georgie, who says she’s seen more H&A Episodes than me- close call.

I would like some constructive criticism on either- BTVS or H&A- to see if I am writing the characters right.

Authoress’s Note: Okay I’m sorry. I know I’m warped. I know some of the Summer Bay residents have left- Sam, Justine, Natalie and Tom, but it doesn’t effect the story. If you have no clue what Home and Away is visit http://homeandaway.seven.com.au/ It explains most of this. If you’re reading this, you should Know what Buffy is. But if you don’t visit www.buffy.com. This is after Innocence- Angel lost his soul, but gained it before he killed Jenny. And Jenny turned him human

Buffy, Willow, Oz, Xander, Cordelia and Giles were on their way to Summer Bay, Australia. They had signed up for some Today’s Youth Culture Program. Now they sat on the bus with 64 other teenagers heading to Summer Bay High. Giles was one of the 10 teachers chosen to be chaperon. Jenny Calendar and Principal Snyder were also among those chaperoning.

"This place looks… quiet," Willow said glancing out the window.

" Willow, stop being so tactful. It looks boring," Cordelia said adjusting her sunglasses, as the bus pulled in front of a school.

" Now when you get off, collect your bags and gather on the lawn. We will assign your hosts. No funny business," Ms Calendar smiled as the students got off the bus.

Students, boys and girls, in weird uniforms gathered on the lawn. Buffy was whistled at a couple of times, in a pair of ¾ jeans and a revealing red spaghetti strap top.

Principal Snyder stood next to another man and began to start a speech. "Students of Sunnydale High and Summer Bay High. Welcome to the Today’s Youth Culture Program. We shall start reading out your hosts. Please meet here Monday at 9:00." Principal Snyder said.

" For those of you who don’t know, I’m Mr. Fisher and this is Principal Snyder. Now when your name is read out, meet your host over on the verandah. Nash, Gypsy," Mr. Fisher began calling out the names.

"Chase, Cordelia." Cordy smiled nervously, picked up her bag and walked over to Gypsy.

"Osbourne, Daniel," Principal Snyder yelled.

" Mitch," called Mr. Fisher.

" Harris, Alexander," snapped Principal Snyder.

" Mitchell, Sam," Mr. Fisher called.

"This is incredible! This principal actually likes teenagers!" Buffy whispered to Willow.

"Miss Summers, care to share?" Principal Snyder bellowed.

Buffy smirked and answered " Willow and I were saying how pretty the town is." "It’s your turn to receive a host, Ms Rosenberg," Principal Snyder snorted.

" Ah, Janossi, Peta," Mr. Fisher said tiredly.

"Kendall, Harmony."

" Rogers, Claire."

" Summers, Buffy," Principal Snyder growled.

" Smith, Will and Hayley," Mr. Fisher read from his list. Buffy picked up her bag and walked over to Hayley and Will.

" Hi, I’m Buffy," she smiled at them.

"I’m Hayley and this is my brother Will," said the pretty girl. "Irene’s expecting us home." So the three of them walked back to Irene’s. She was sitting at the table talking to Ken.

"Irene, this is Buffy Summers," Will said, as he proceeded to guzzle Pepsi.

"Please to meet you, Buffy. I hope you enjoy your stay here in Summer Bay," Irene said cheerily. " Ken was just saying how he has to drive to Melbourne this weekend." Hayley looked disappointed and Will looked a bit put out.

Hayley showed Buffy to the room where she would be sleeping, while Will tagged along. He had wanted a boy.

" Tomorrow night there’s a Dance Club night at the local surf club. Can you surf?" Hayley asked as they headed towards the beach.

"Nope but I’d love to learn," Buffy smiled. Will looked up, intrigued

"I’ll teach you," he said eagerly. Buffy nodded as they headed along the sand.

"What do you mean Drusilla and Spike are planning a Harvest?" Angel growled, flinging Willy the snitch across the room. "Where?"

"Summer Bay, tomorrow night. Dru wants to feast," Willy whimpered, covering his face.

Angel growled at him one last time and headed back to the library. He took too much pleasure from teasing Willy. He brought up Willow’s private files. It beeped at him. A password was needed. Angel groaned and clicked the icon that said Get A Clue. The secret question came up- Another term for being a werewolf. Angel smiled and typed lycanthropy. Willow’s spell casting files came up. One for having a vampire in the Sun for 24 hours, another for traveling. Angel gathered up some weapons, printed out a copy of the travel and other useful spells and began the sun safe spell. Finally he started the travel incarnation. A few seconds later, he was standing on a beach. Summer Bay. He glanced around and decided to begin his search for Buffy at the local High school.

Angel walked up to the school and went up to the office. He was then told to go to the staff room. He knocked on the door. Giles was sitting there with another man.

" Giles, could I speak to you for a minute," he asked. Giles excused himself and went into the hall to talk.

" Giles, Drusilla and Spike are planning a Harvest here tomorrow night. I only heard about it a couple of hours ago from Willy," he murmured. "It’ll be a massacre if no one is prepared."

Giles nodded. "Right. I advise you go and find Buffy right away. I take it you have weapons," he said motioning towards the bag. Angel nodded.

"Giles, where would I find Buffy?" he asked confused.

Giles paused and went back into the staff room. He poked his head back out and said " the Surf Club, Bayside Diner or the beach. I shall speak to you later." Angel nodded and left. Giles paused, suddenly realizing what had just happened. It was still mid afternoon, a very sunny afternoon.

Duncan had heard the conversation. He lent back on the wall and exclaimed "Cool !" and ran off to find Mitch or someone to tell.

"Angel, how exactly did you get here?" Giles asked.

"Willow’s computer files. She really needs a harder password," Angel chuckled.

"I think she was counting on the fact few of us know how to work a computer."

Angel walked into the Bayside Diner, looking for Buffy. Five locals, Natalie, Joel, Alf, Ailsa and Irene were standing around drinking coffee. Angel walked up to them.

"Excuse me, but would know where Buffy Summers or Willow Rosenberg are?" he asked.

Nat looked at Joel urgently. Irene frowned a bit.

"What would you want with two teenage girls?" Joel asked, standing up straight. Angel realized he was a cop. This man was irritating Angel.

" One of them is my girlfriend. Please explain to me why I’m telling you this," Angel smirked. Duncan ran into the diner then.

"Mum! That guy is going to kill someone!" Duncan yelled pointing at Angel.

Joel shifted. "Just show us what’s in the bag, mate?"

Angel rolled his eyes. Suddenly Angel felt his face shift into game face. Something, black magic, was in the air. Fate was with Angel though Jenny Calendar walked in to get Giles some tea. Seeing Angel in vamp mode, she butted in. Angel’s face shifted back, the minute she had come over

"Angel. Looking for Buffy?" she asked. Angel smirked at Joel in victory.

"As always. You know where?" Jenny nodded.

"At the surf club, I think." Angel walked out. But Duncan had seen it Angel’s game face, and caught a glance of the weapons in the bag. Duncan was off to the Surf club, already halfway there.

Buffy, Willow, Cordelia, Oz, Xander, Hayley, Will, Gypsy, Justine, Tom, Sam, Peta and Mitch were hanging out at the surf club when Duncan ran in.

Buffy was training, while talking to Willow and Hayley, who was drinking her second strawberry milkshake.

Will, Xander, Gypsy and Peta were playing pool, debating how hard it was for Gypsy to find a good looking date, and half listening to Duncan’s babble. Everyone else was playing pinball.

Duncan ran in. "There's this weird guy in town, he's face is ...He's going to kill people!" Oz looked up.

" Guys," he said urgently. Cordy and Xander looked up. Buffy and Willow came over. "Duncan said a guy with a warped face was seen at the diner. Wearing a duster. Do you think... Buffy?" everyone looked at her.

"Hey! It's sunny. Very sunny. And we haven't ... you know... recently," Buffy said uncomfortably.

Gypsy gawked at her, catching her meaning. The others (from Summer Bay) caught on in an instant. Will started laughing and went back to his pool game. The group went back to their chosen activities. Duncan sighed and watched the pool game. Gypsy commented on how Summer Bay had no good looking guys. Will and Mitch protested loudly.

Suddenly Angel walked in. Peta's and Gypsy's eyes popped out.

" I take it back," Gypsy purred walking towards Angel, but Xander jumped in front of her to greet Angel, but Duncan yelled out.

"That's the guy from the diner! The one with the gun!" he pointed.

"You haven't had a happy recently, have you Dead Boy?" Xander asked suspiciously.

"Why does everyone think I'm evil!" he said, exasperated. Willow appeared, and began staring, her mouth a perfect 'o'.

"Buffy.....sun....Angel......spontaneous combustion..." she got a slightly dreamy look on her face.

Buffy called out from the training area "Sometimes I think you're the insane one, not Drusilla."

Willow's head snapped around. "Hey, I'm just a romantic! And anyway...." she pointed like a three year old.

"Will, you should work on saying full senten...." she stared at Angel. "......"

"Buffy, we've got big problems," Angel said moving towards her.

"Tell me about it," she murmured.

" Spike and Drusilla are coming here, holding a Harvest. We need to be ready. I brought the weapons," Angel smiled at her. "What’s the matter?’

"The bit about being pro- sunlight, it’s not permanent is it?" she looked so hopeful.

"Sorry baby," he kissed her gently.

"Where are you staying?" she whispered, their lips only centimetres apart.

"I’ve got contacts. Anyway, any ideas where Spike and Dru’ll turn up?" he pulled back a bit.

"So much for romance," Buffy giggled, sitting up. "Well there is going to be some sort of party here so my guess would be…"

"Here," Angel finished for her. "I’ll meet you here sunset tomorrow."

"Angel, who’s watching Sunnydale while we’re here?" Buffy asked suddenly.

"The main vamp ticket is here. No one is concerned about Sunnydale," Angel stood up.

"See ya," Buffy smiled as Angel melted into the shadows. She joined her friends around the pool table. "Angel’s gone to feed," she explained to her friends.

Sam cracked up. "The way you said feed, he sounds like a vampire."

The Scooby Gang smiled feebly at the joke.

"If only you knew," Buffy thought wistfully. "If only you knew."

The next morning, Buffy, Hayley and Will didn’t get up until 11:47. The three teenagers sat around the kitchen table, eating pancakes and drinking coke.

"What the you kids eating?" Irene asked, when she came home.

"Breakfast and lunch. But Buffy alternated coke for orange juice and lemonade," Will clinked glasses with Buffy and Hayley.

"It’s good, Irene," Hayley laughed as Mitch and Vinnie walked in.

"Hi guys," Mitch greeted them. Will was wearing pyjama bottoms, Hayley was wearing sheep pyjamas and Buffy was wearing a red sports bra, a pair of ¾ grey track pants, a white men’s shirt unbuttoned and a pair of white socks. "I see you were up and at ‘em this morning."

Vinnie looked fascinated with Buffy’s read crop top.

"Hi I’m Buffy," she smiled at Vinnie.

"Uhhhh…Vinnie Patterson. The pleasure is all mine," he smiled at her.

Will got up to have a shower. "One word mate: Leah," he

chuckled.Buffy giggled and went upstairs to get dressed.

Will tried to teach Buffy how to surf. Buffy kept loosing her balance, which caused the source of most of the entertainment that day.

Buffy, Hayley and Will got home at 5:25. The sunset at 5:49. Buffy hurried and dressed in a pair of red leather pants, a black midriff top, strappy sandals and her leather jacket.

"Whoa, where are you going dressed like that?" Irene asked glancing at Buffy and Hayley, who was wearing a sparkly pink miniskirt and a black ribbed top.

"That thing on at the Surf club," Will called from his room.

"Hurry up and I’ll drop you off there," Irene smiled.

The four of them arrived at 6:02. Angel was waiting outside.

"It’s about time," he smiled handing her a crossbow.

"Sorry. I’ve got three stakes, how many have you got?" she asked.

"Enough," Angel kissed her abruptly. When she glared, he shrugged. "Call it my good luck charm."

Spike led Drusilla up onto the makeshift stage they had set up for the night. People looked at them. Spike stepped up to the microphone.

"Welcome to the time of Relive. For you mortals, it is a time to fear, to run from for myself, Drusilla and our minions it is a time to rejoice. Beware of us- we are stronger then a gorilla, faster then a leopard and…" Spike was interrupted by a slightly tarty, American voice.

"And stupider than Harmony when she sees Angel. Please Spike, you didn’t think I’d miss this did you?" Buffy smirked. She was standing on the ordering desk, crossbow in hand.

Spike looked up into the cocky face of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Spike grabbed a girl from the floor. Alison Wilson. He drained her dry in seconds. Dropping her corpse to the floor, Spike smirked at

Buffy."Some Vampire Slayer, you are, you’re sleeping with a vampire," Spike began the verbal sparring.

"Spike, Spike, Spike, how many times must I remind you: once the roots start showing, the skill stops flowing," Buffy shook her head in mock sympathy. Then she delivered a right hook to his cheek.

Angel appeared and punched Spike in the back

" Ohh, Spikey, can I have the Slayer for dinner and take Daddy home?" Drusilla called in a sing- song voice.

The crowd in the surf gasped at the thought of Angel being Drusilla’s father. Alf bent over and checked Alison’s pulse.

"She’s dead," Alf told the shocked crowd. Then they began focusing on Buffy, Spike and Angel.

"Look Slayer, the odds don’t looked especially promising- you and Nancy Boy against me, Drusilla and 22 of our strongest minions," Spike smirked.

"Sit ‘N’ Spin, it’s a Slayer, an ensouled vampire, a gypsy, a werewolf, a tweedy Watcher, a Wicca in training, a May Queen and……me," Xander finished lamely, brandishing a cross.

Th minions hissed, jumping in front of Spike and Drusilla.

"Wow, they're loyal. Oh no, just stupid," Buffy said, as she snap kicked one vampire, and staked another.

Slowly the Scooby Gang worked through all the vampires. Only Spike and Drusilla were remaining.

"So Spike are we going to surrender?" Buffy asked teasingly, aiming the crossbow for his heart.

"Not on your life Slayer," Spike picked Drusilla up and carried her into the night. The Scooby gang gathered in a group and began to check for injuries. Only Buffy and Xander came out with major injuries- Buffy had a dislocated shoulder and Xander had blood running from his face..

"Well that was fun," Cordelia grumbled. Buffy smiled brightly.

"Sorry Cora, the best part is now- explaining what Spike and Drusilla are," she nodded to Angel, who pushed her shoulder back into the socket.

"Well would you kids care to explain what that was," Joel Nash snapped, glaring at Angel.

The Scooby gang looked at each other.

"Would you believe it? A gang on PCP," Oz said smoothly.

Buffy threw her remaining clothes into her bag.

"Now explain it again- some gang on drugs, PCP, and went to the Dance Club night to kill us. They were most likely delusional," Hayley asked.

"You got it," Buffy smiled, zipping up her bag. "Well I better go." Hayley and Buffy hugged.

"I got you a present," Hayley handed Buffy a jewelry case. It held a charm bracelet with Australian charms- a wombat, a boomerang, a kangaroo and an Australian shaped one.

"Thanks Hales," Buffy fastened it. "It’s beautiful." Hayley and Buffy went downstairs, where Irene and Will were waiting.

"Thanks for letting me stay with you, Mrs Roberts," Buffy said.

"It was no problem. At least you kept these two out of trouble," Irene grinned affectionately at Hayley and Will.

"And Will, thanks for teaching me to surf," Buffy laughed at Will’s disgruntled expression.

"No problem," he said, handing her a packet of Tim Tams. "I know you like these biscuits, and can’t get them in America." Laughter rang out. Willow appeared at the door.

"C’mon, Buffy," she called.

"Thanks again," Buffy smiled, picked up her bags and her biscuits and went outside with her friends. Oz, Cordelia and Xander stood there, with their bags.

" G-man and Ms C said they’d meet us at the school," Xander shrugged. His eyes lit up at the sight of the Tim Tams. "Chocolatey goodness," he squeaked.

The Scooby Gang chuckled and moved towards the road.

"You know the weird bit," Cordelia started. "They actually believed the gangs on PCP story."

"It must be nice not to know," Willow said wistfully.

"Naw. Think about it. You would have been killed in the Bronze, Angel would be floating around the atmosphere from starvation, Cordy would have been vamp bait at the Harvest, Oz….and I would be a ditzy prom queen," Buffy finished. The others were silent for a second.

"Give us the Slaying life anyday," Xander grinned.

The End.

I know it's corny, but hey, I hope it's well written corny/fluff
