AC - A human child named Dra'naught DeSade was born in Etheria. He was from a warrior race called the Dragon Lords.
AC - Dra'naught began his training as a Dragon Ranger. His studies focussed on martial arts, weaponry (sword, lance, and the bow), dragon mastery, intelligence, and battle strategies, in addition to his normal education.
AC - At the age of 16 he attained the title of Dragon Ranger. He decided to leave Etheria and seek adventure in the lands of the East. He sailed far across the sea and arrived in Northern Ergoth. There he found work as a mercenary.
AC - Attracted by the ideals of justice Dra'naught travelled to the mainland to join the Knights of Solamnia. He was sponsored and joined the Order of the Crown. Long hours of training and going on every quest he could helped him work his way up the ranks and eventually became a Warden of the Crown. He commanded a Compgroup, comprised of seven wings of 60 men each, about 420 men in total.
AC - Peasants led by Ragnell revolted against the Solamnic nation, leading to the destruction of some major castles and death to a few prominent Solamnic families. The Knights didn't want to fight peasants and other Solamnics, so most of the time they would fall back rather than to kill them. But Dra'naught was not of Solamnic blood, he believed that justice was more important than honor, and that the rebels must be punished for their crimes.
AC - Dra'naught disobeyed orders and rushed to the aid of Castle Di Caela. However, he was too late, the castle had fallen and the spoils divided amongst the peasants. He ordered an attack on the remaining forces which had already begun disbanding, but around half of his knights refused to attack and withdrew. With his remaining forces he captured thousands of the rebels. He wanted to make an example of them to prevent further rebellions, so he had every single one of them impaled on stakes around the castle.
Afterwards Dra'naught decided to get vengance on the merchants who had sold weapons to the peasants and had profited by the war. He hunted them down and impaled them on the roadsides accross Solamnia. From this time on the people began to call him Dreadnaught because of fear he inspired. He liked the name and decided to keep it.
The Knighthoods Conclave met and decided that Dreadnaught had gone too far, he had to be arrested and put on trial. They sent out word to the Knighthood to arrest Dreadnaught on sight. After a couple of battles Dreadnaught and around 100 of his men escaped, they left Solamnia in search of new lands and new adventures.
AC - Dreadnaught came upon a small kingdom near the Khalkist mountains known as Dragon Court. Always seeking ways in which to improve himself and his men, he was drawn to the use of magic of which he had only dabbled in previously. There he quickly learnt the secrets of the mages and began to experiment himself. Eventually he came to the attention of a powerful shadow mage, and was given the knowledge of the dark arts.
It was during this period that he met the female vampress known as Saffyre DeFyre. She was a daywalker vampire, one of the last of her kind. After a brief romance, she convinced him to become just like her. Taking up her offer he drank of her blood and became a Vampire himself. His men also chose to become Daywalker vampires, and they were also sired by Saffyre.
AC - In his quest for power Dreadnaught unleashed his dark magic upon Dragon Court. The land was laid waste and terrible destruction was brought upon the kingdom. Many of the people and adventurers fled, including Dreadnaught's own friends. Dreadnaught realised his mistake and decided it was best if he left the kingdom.
AC - Dreadnaught and his soldiers headed into the Khalkist Mountains. It was there he met the Highlord Maldeev who recruited him into the Black Dragonarmy. Dreadnaught and his men were put into the 4th Black Flight, Dreadnaught was placed in command and elevated to the rank of Highmaster. The 4th Black Flight was comprised of Black Dragons, and cavalry. They were a highly mobile army used for attacks deep in enemy territory.
AC - Dreadnaught saved the life of the Black Dragon Khisanth during a battle. Because of his experience in growing up with dragons they became friends. He related to her his plans for the future of dragons, she approved and gave him some black dragon eggs and helped him aquire eggs from other Chromatic and Ferrous dragons.
AC - Dreadnaught's was patrolling a valley deep within the Khalkist Mountains. In a location approximatley halfway between Bloten and Zhakar. In a hidden valley he discovered three ancient citadels, deserted but still intact. Claiming them for himself he named them Castle Dreadnaught, Castle Darkstar, and Castle Dragonfyre. Thereafter he began to rebuild them.
AC - Dreadnaught's army was stationed near Sanction at the time of a raid by enemy infiltrators to steal metallic dragon eggs. Dreadnaught took the opportunity during the resulting confusion to steal some of the Metallic Dragon eggs for himself. He sent the eggs to Castle Dreadnaught where the shadow mages began their experiments on them.
AC - Under the direction of Dreadnaught, experimentation began on new dragon hybrids. Chromatic dragons were crossed with Metallic Ferrous dragons. The optimal cross was found to be an Iron Ferrous dragon. From this three hybrids were created. The Red Steel dragon, the Blue Steel dragon, and the Black Steel dragon. Thereafter in secret they began producing Steel Dragons, and training them according to their purpose.
AC - Dreadnaught was involved in the war of the lance. Through several strategic battles across 348 and into the early parts of 349 AC, the army had soon defeated the defending forces and occupied Balifor under Dragonarmy rule.
AC - Ariakas commanded that the Black Dragonarmy occupy conquered lands, rather than lead any further assaults. Growing bored at having to defend territory Dreadnaught began secret raids on Solamnic lands and Ergoth in order to aquire supplies and riches.
AC - After the destruction of the Temple of Neraka and the defeat of the Dragonarmies, Dreadnaught fled with the remants of 4th Black Flight back to Castle Dreadnaught. Most of his cavalry were left intact but he had lost his Black Dragons. To Prepare for an attack by Whitestone forces, he ordered his shadow mages to turn the castles into flying citadels.
AC - Dissolusioned with the Dragonarmies leadership and disgusted with their incompetence. Dreadnaught decided that the time was right to forge a new army. With his riches and re-inforced with a number of Steel Dragons, and new recruits, the Dread Knights were created.
AC - Dreadnaught began to philosphise about the future, he began writing his book called the Posterus, or Future. He came to the conclusion that all races were unable to rule themselves. That the Dread Knight's were the only ones who could restore order and justice to the lands. He captured the surrounding kingdoms and began his War of Liberation.
