My Solace

Eidolon

The glare became too much so she pushed aside the star, waving her hand at it nonchalantly. It flared a bit, making the blackness become a canvas where someone spilt watercolors across its perfect surface.

You'll get used to it...

The thought drifted past and she pushed that aside as well. Just an echo of herself somewhere in another universe, it didn't matter.

Then again, in this place, nothing ever did.

She was hot.

Looking around, she spotted the icy planet that she created a while back... about 15 million years ago... or 15 seconds ago, depending on which time she thought in.

Sighing, she narrowed her eyes on it. It was a beautiful planet... the keyword being "was". A light flashed and the planet exploded, sending a cool breeze her way.

You loved that planet...

i can always recreate it... besides, i wanted more spires...

I don't remember ever liking spires of ice before...

i never did... until now.

She turned in the chair and looked down and the crystalline tile she created. It shone like a mirror that you could see straight through, making her feel as if she was looking at everything above her, while floating in the middle of nothing.

What happened to your quest?

i'm still searching...

Yes, I am...

no you're not, you're playing. She flicked a comet into being and shot it around the swirling yellow planet to her right.

I'm waiting... for Her...

will she help me?

Yes, She will help me.

i think she'll laugh.

And I think that's what keeps you there.

She stood up and walked a thousand miles away from the chair. Staring ahead of her, she noted the black hole about 4 lightyears away and wondered if she should move it.

Now who's playing?

i like my solace, thank you very much...

Yeah, I like my solace.

Closing her eyes, she inhaled deeply, the Nothing filling her with warmth, chill, love, hatred, life and death. And then, again, she looked to the black hole.

Leave it be. I like the deep black... it makes me remember...

i don't want to remember...

But I do remember...

Disgusted, she waved the thought aside and collapsed the black hole into itself and watched her universe twist and swirl.

let me go...
