Fox and Dana Sleep Together
The Phile Formerly Known As Soapie

The short one came in quickly, expensive suit soaked through, red hair
dripping. She looked mad. Jenny pretended to be interested in some
regestry forms but couldn't help checking out the handsome man that
followed. She chuckled. She saw a lot of things at her job, and loved
all of the gossip that followed. She chided herself for thinking that
way at 78, but she couldn't help keeping tabs on their conversation.
"Scully, wait up!" The man said. She just rolled her eyes and quickened
her pace.
"Honestly Mulder, what makes you think I'm even talking to you right
now?"
"Didn't you just?" he said straight-faced. Scully let out an exagerated
sigh of self-pity.
"Hey, don't act like this is all my fault!" He said, suddenly angry. "I
had to push the car in the rain too, you know, and if you had filled the
tank like I told you to we wouldn't be in this mess!"
"ME? It was you're turn to pay for gas!"
"What do you think I am, made of money? I filled up outside of Comity!"
"Mulder! You did not! Besides, if you had asked that man for directions
instead of sunflower seeds--"
"Leave them out of this! Did I complain about the cigarettes, Ms.
Morley?"
"Well! At least you got to eat something! I could KILL for some food
right now! Two rooms, please." she said sharply, just noticing Jenny.
Jenny politely informed her that there was only one left. Scully
politely gave her a glare that would've killed the flukeman.
"Is there another hotel in this town?" Mulder said quickly.
"Town?" Scully scoffed, "This place hardly qualifies as a trucker's
station!" The little old receptionist shook her head.
"Fine, we'll take it." Scully said, extremely irritated. To Mulder she
added, "You're sleeping on the floor!"
As Jenny watched them walk away she grinned to herself.
       "Young love......"

------------------------------------------------------------------------
As Scully stared at the room in shock Mulder cleared his throat
gruffly.
"Okay, Scully, so where do I sleep?"
"On..the...floor...?" she said dumbly.
       "And that would be where?"
"I think we're standing on it."
Not just literally, they were. There wasn't enough room to
stand, let alone sleep, on the small patch of ground between the door
frame and the rest of the 'room'. Taking up all the space was a
less-than-double bed, a chair, and a night stand. There wasn't even a
TV, only a radial-dial phone. And it was cold.
"Is there a bathroom?" Scully said unconciously, still staring at the
bed. "There's one down the hall...." Mulder replied, also zombie-like in
manner. "So, since it's such a small bed....shall we sleep in shifts?"
Scully
asked finally.
"Yeah," Mulder said sarcastically. "I'll sleep tonight, you sleep in the
car." And thus began one sleepless night.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mulder had fallen alseep about ten minutes after he hit the pillow.
Because the bed was so short he was forced to sleep on a diaginal.
Scully was sitting on the end of the bed trying to stay awake by
counting chips in the paint on the wall two feet from her face. She got
to seventy-three before she fell asleep.
Mulder was cold, so he wraped himself in the blanket. His feet were
still cold, so he kicked them, trying to find something warm to snuggle
into. He kicked something soft and it purred. Good, he thought to
himself, a kitten. He snuggled his feet into the soft form and it
meowed.
Scully was cold, but there weren't any blankets. Something kicked her.
It was cold. She was surprised to see that she had been kicked in the
stomache by a flying pizza box. Yum, she thought, pepperoni and sasauge.
She bit the pizza. Mulder frowned. The kitten had bitten his foot. He
kicked it off the bed.
Scully woke up when she hit the wall and the floor at an odd angle.
      "MULDER!"
      "Huh?" he said groggily.
      "Don't kick me!"
"I kicked you?" he mumbled, forgetting his dream about a vicious
attacking kitten.
"YES!" she yelled, bumping her head against the wall as she struggled to
sit up and get back on the bed. When she did she glared at him. She shook
her head and yanked the blanket away from him viciously.
"You stay up now, I'm going to sleep so you won't kick me!"
Scully wrapped herself in the blanket and Mulder sat up. She fell asleep
within five minutes.......he was asleep in six.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scully was having a seizure. Or at least, that was what her partner
thought when he woke up twenty minutes later to her shaking and
shuddering. What he didn't realize was that she wasn't catatonic....only
cold. With hair still wet from the rain and the lack of a blanket
because Mulder had snagged it, all in a sub-zero hotel room, she was
liable to be a little freezing. He paniced at the sight of her in the
dimly lit room.
"SCULLY!" He shouted, sitting up so fast that he bumbed his head on the
low ceiling. That woke her up.
"Mulder, what's wrong?" She asked calmly. He was leaning over her in the
dark, shaking her shoulders so hard that his thumb was leaving a black
and blue mark on her neck.
"You...I thought....I mean....you're not in cartiac arrest?" he spit
out.
"No, but if you don't stop shaking me I will be soon! Mulder, get off of
me! These bed springs are creaking so horribly I think they're going to
break." she said, looking up at his worry-struck face suspended above
her. Suddenly embaressed, he moved over so quickly that he lost balance and
fell off the bed, slaming into the wall and sprawling over the night stand.
He swore
and she rolled over to go back to sleep.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ten restless minutes later Mulder fumbled blindly for the light
switch.
When he found it, it didn't work. He swore under his breath and got up
anyway, heading out the door and down the hall to the hotel's bathrooms.
Scully woke up right after Mulder left for the W.C. For an instant she
forgot where she was, and stretched out luxuriously in the bed. Then she
remembered that she should have been sharing with Mulder, and instantly
sat up to see where he was. She didn't see him, but saw the open door
instead. She paniced, and grabbed her gun from her bag on top of the
chair. She stood by the door, unsure of what to do, when she heard
someone walking down the hall towards the room.
Mulder walked slowly and sleepily down the hall and towards the open
door. He had left it open because it was too dark to see anything and he
couldn't be sure that the handle wouldn't fall off the minute he closed
it anyway. He took one step in the door when Scully stuck out her foot
and kicked him. Hard. He mumbled a pained, "Oomff!" and staggered
forward.
"FBI!" she screamed, giving him a karate chop in the back that sent him
sprawling, groaning in agony and landing heavily on the bed. The side of
it colapsed under him, while Scully slammed the door shut and pointed
her gun at his head.
"HAND'S WHERE I CAN SEE THEM!" she cried. She had one hand still
pointing the gun dangerously at his head, while she was busy searching
her bag for handcuffs with the other. Mulder was still doubled over, and
getting more pissed by the minute. When she started to handcuff him to
the headboard he rolled over onto his back on the side of the bed still
standing, and simply glared at her. Scully took one shocked look at him,
and opened her mouth to apologize, which sent the keys to the handcuffs
flying through the air. A few seconds later they heard a tiny tinkle, as
the lost keys fell through an unseen crack in the flooring. Scully stood
staring at her partner, on his back with one hand cuffed to the broken
bed. She kicked her bag of the chair and slumped down, wondering how
this night could get any worse.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Early the next morning Scully woke up in the chair with a horrible neck
cramp and some bruises from where she had slammed into the wall. She
sighed, rotated her head a few times, and kicked Mulder awake with her
foot. She grabbed her bag and headed off towards the bathrooms to get
dressed. Then she headed down to the front desk to see if anyone could
help get her partner un-chained to the bed.
She arrived at the front desk to see the same woman from the night
before, Jenny, her name tag said, attending the counter. Scully lowered
her head meekly and mumbled something about needing pliars.
"What, dear?" Jenny said loudly. Scully blushed horribly and ignored the
leering looks she got from some truckers helping themselves to coffee in
the corner. She repeated her plea to Jenny.
"I, uh, I need to borrow some pliars. We have a....a problem.....in our
room...."
Jenny grinned evilly. "You don't to tell ME dear, I know all about it.
Oh, I'm not one to gossip, you know, but...." she giggled and continued
loudly, "we haven't exactly got the thickest walls in the county."
Scully blushed so badly she would've won a tomato contest. A trucker
looked her way and winked. She reminded herself never to share a room
with Fox Mulder again.

The End. Or is it?
