Sketches

here are several drawings, apparently drafts of the same subject. The short brow, small face and pale brows leave little doubt in my mind as to its subject.
I ask myself, Why would Lady Hildegarde choose as model her arch-nemesis?

A cold wind blasts me from the window as I stand looking, and a prickle along the back of my neck informs me I am no longer alone.
She stands in the doorway in majestic loveliness, this being whom I have for so long sought. I move toward her, a thousand endearments springing to my lips, but just as quickly she goes.
I follow three paces down the staircase till I realize the only footsteps ringing are my own. I still hold her sketches of Gisela in my hands.
