Story and Production Notes
The newest Star Trek spin off series, Star Trek Voyager premiered in 1995 shortly
after the end of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Star Trek: Voyager aired
on the United Paramount Network (UPN), it shows the adventures of a new crew
. Their ship, the Uss Voyager Ncc-74656, an Intrepid class Starship is
a scientific vessel. The ship was assigned to go to the Badlands to look for
a maquis ship. They departed from Deep Space Nine. Kathryn Janeway commanded
the Voyager. Lt. Tuvok, Janeway's security officer was in the maquis ship
as a spy. Janeway wanted to retrieve him. The Badlands were an unstable
sector of space. Janeway needed a good helmsman to go there, so she looked
for Tom Paris, who was in prison. Long Time ago he was in Starfleet but left
it to join the maquis and he was captured while working for the maquis.
Janeway took him out prison because he accepted to help her, In the Voyager
there was a new ensign, Harry Kim. He was very young and a very capable
science officer. The Voyager left DS9 and it went to the Badlands. There
they were caught by an unknown energy wave that took them 70.000 light years
away from their previous position, to the delta quadrant. The ship got
heavy damage a some crewmembres were killed by the energy wave. As the
doctor died the Captain initiated the Emergency Medical Hologram. Although
he was for emergency situations only, he had to became Voyager's first
doctor. He managed to work always and Kes helped him. In the Delta Quadrant
they found a Talaxian, Neelix, who started to serve in the voyager because he
was a cooker, and the Voyager didn't have energy forever, so they couldn't
use the replicators very much. Neelix was also very useful due to his
knowledge of the Delta Quadrant. They rescued an Ocampa, Kes from the Kazon,
a race that became enemy of the Voyager. Kes stayed in the ship and helped
the doctor. The Voyager rescued the maquis ship's crew. They integrated the
Voyager's crew. Chakotay, the maquis commander became the Voyager' first
officer. B'Elanna Torres became Voyager's Chief Engineer. She was half human,
half Klingon. It was though for her to learn to obey starfleet regulations.
Lt. Tuvok, became Voyager's security chief. The crew learnt to work together
and Janeway promised that they would found a way to take the ship back home.
Later in the series Kes left and they entered borg space. A new character
entered to the Voyager, a borg, Seven of Nine.
The Voyager is lost in the Delta Quadrant, but they are boldly looking
for a way home, and surely they'll find it.
