  The Fusion Pistol is a lightweight, overpowered weapon originally designed for shock 
troops.  Now it is more of a novelty, of interest only to gun collectors and 
enthusiasts.  Its high damage level and blast area made it useless for shipboard or 
urban combat applications, and its high recoil, partially compensated for by its 
internal recoil compensation unit (it has no backpack unit), did little to endear it 
to the troops it was issued to.
