I had three ideas for ending the story of “Lyta and G”Kar”, they are written below. I liked the last one, Chapter 11C best, although all of them work. I wanted Lyta to be free to wander on her own, if need be.

Chapter 11A

Michael stepped over to his comm. panel and initiated a call. The Minbari who answered asked, "How may I help you, Mr. Garibaldi?"

"Lyta is on her way to the spaceport with Maya. I tried to send Max with her, but she wouldn't have it," responded Michael.

"Thank you, Mr. Garibaldi. I appreciate your calling me. We will take care of it," responded the Minbari, closing the channel.

It seemed all too soon, when they reached the spaceport. This time there was no psi cop watching the place. Lyta went to the information counter and inquired about G'Kar and his ship. She learned he had departed earlier that day. She was disappointed, since she had told him she would meet him here. True, she was a little late, but from what she learned, he had made no effort to wait. Maybe G'Kar had become tired of having her and Maya underfoot. He hadn't seemed put out when she had last talked with him. In fact, he had seemed very pleased that she wanted to go planet hopping with him again. It was damned confusing.

Taking Maya by the hand with one hand, and carrying her suitcase in the other, Lyta got in line at the nearest ticket counter. She had been told what was outbound leaving EA and ISA space and was getting ready to pay for the tickets when she heard someone address her from behind. Turning to see who it was, she found herself looking at a young Minbari, wearing an odd looking uniform. It finally occurred to her that he was Anla’shok, and the odd looking uniform was the new standard Anla’shok uniform made from the fabric she had helped develop. Seeing it on someone in public for the first time made her realize just how much potential the fabric had. It made fine silk look like gunnysack material.

"Ms. Alexander?" Asked the Anla’shok again.

"Yes."

"The Shai Alyt is waiting for you. Shall we go?"

Curious about what was going on, Lyta picked up her suitcase, took Maya's hand and followed the Anla’shok down the long concourse to its end and out of the building. There was a small Minbari shuttle waiting for them. Lyta grimaced to herself. It wasn't missed by Maya.

{Mommy, you don't seem happy,} observed her daughter, with a look on her face that said she wasn’t enjoying this part of the trip.

Lyta nodded in response.

In Garibaldi's office, his communications panel chirped. "Garibaldi here," said Michael into the panel pickup.

"We got her, before she could get away. Thanks again," said the Minbari on the screen.

"Got who, before they got away, Michael?" asked Lise coming through the back door of his office.

"Lyta," responded Michael.

"Who wants her? What has she done wrong?" Asked Lise.

"It's a little hard to explain, Lise. Lyta isn't exactly your regular kind of person."

Lise had met Lyta and her daughter, Maya, on a number of occasions and could not remember anything out of the ordinary about them except that they were telepaths. "Try!" She demanded.

"She’s wanted on Minbar. A whitestar was sent to pick her up before she could disappear again. That was the call you overheard."

"She seemed okay to me. I’ve watched ISN, and know why she isn't allowed in EA space, but the Minbari? What did she do to them?"

"I am not sure, but Delenn wants her brought back there. I suppose it's something personal. She and Delenn are old friends, so I don't think she’s in any kind of trouble."

******************************

Lyta wasn't surprised to see a whitestar waiting in orbit for them. She might have known that Delenn wouldn't let her just vanish, not without some objections.

Addressing the Anla’shok, who was now piloting the shuttle, "Which whitestar is this?"

"It’s Whitestar 71, Shai Alyt Sheraun commanding, Ms. Alexander," responded the Anla’shok.

Muttering to herself, Lyta said, "She's about as subtle as a bulldozer."

"Ma'am?" inquired the Anla’shok.

"Nothing," replied Lyta.

********************************

In the hanger bay control, Shai Alyt Sheraun awaited Lyta's arrival. As Lyta and Maya exited the shuttle, Sheraun said, "You did tell me this wasn't over."

Lyta was standing very close. Sheraun picked up Maya.

"You, young lady, have really grown since I last saw you," said Sheraun.

Reaching to finger Sheraun's crestbone, Maya asked, "Are you going to marry my mommy?"

Taking Lyta's hand, he responded, "That is entirely up to your mother."

As they left the hangar deck, Lyta removed her hand from his and put her arm around his waist.

Watching the Shai Alyt and Lyta leave the hangar bay, three Anla’shok, new on board, traded knowing smiles. They had heard stories about the redhead, some would warm a man's heart and the blood in his veins, and others would freeze his soul.
