Intro to Photoshop

Objectives - Class One

At the end of this lesson, you should be able to:

  • Describe what PhotoShop can do, and what it can't do.
  • Define pixel.
  • Create a new canvas.
  • Save and re-open images.
  • Arrange the PhotoShop screen.
  • Recognize screen elements.
  • Hide and show screen elements.
  • Select and use drawing tools.
  • Select foreground and background colors.
  • Undo mistakes.

Homework Assignments:

Please work through Part II: Understanding Digital Imagery, Chapters 4, 5 and 7,
and (most important) Part III: Painting and Retouching Images, Chapter 8.

If you simply play with the program, using as many of the drawing tools as possible, you will have a good start for class two.
