What is Prey?

Since I suspect most of you don't watch Prey, y'all need a bit of backstory to know what's up.

The series posits that a new humanoid species (I call 'em 'Predators' since homo sapiens is clearly the 'Prey' of the series title) has appeared on Earth, and that their DNA is something like 1.6% different from "ours". This new species appears to be trying to wipe out homo sapiens, much as homo sapiens wiped out the neandertals. The female of the "Predator" species has 4 uteri (they didn't say anything about vaginas, but of course we were wondering if the males have a corresponding number of... which would *certainly* explain why Sloan is so hot after Tom; and no I did NOT go there in this story...) and are capable of reproduction as young as 8 or 9 years old. We don't know as much about the males, other than that they are very strong, and are highly intelligent (though most of the time you wouldn't know it from the dialogue... JM is the only reason I watch the show!).

Members of this species have a rudimentary "empathic" sense, see in the infrared range, and appear to have an instinctive recognition of each other, in much the same way that Highlander's Immortals recognize each other, but some few of them have learned how to "turn off" that signal in order to hide themselves. JM plays a recurring (but not regular) character named "Lewis" who is a trainer of Predator assassins. He's very Machiavellian, cold, sensual, and apparently completely amoral (as are most of the Predators we have seen), but you get the sense that he is incredibly dedicated to making sure his species survives, and has hidden depths.
