New Voyager Based Comic Coming in July Avalon Rising
Source: Wildstorm
Wildstorm has announced a new Voyager comic book, shipping July, 2000. STAR TREK VOYAGER : AVALON RISING Written by Janine Ellen Young and Doselle Young Art by David A. Roach, painted cover by David Wenzel. When a crucial mission must be performed on an inhospitable world, only one Voyager crew member can function on the planet's surface for even a short time : the holographic Doctor. On a planet whose customs resemble those found in earthly fairy tales, the Doctor must remain intact long enough to save all his crewmates in this stunningly rendered Prestige one-shot comic book that recasts the Voyager crew as figures in mythic sword-and-sorcery adventures, while simultaneously showcasing an exciting new adventure. Written by science-fiction novelist Janine Ellen Young (Cinderblock) and Doselle Young (Wonder Woman) with a painted cover by David Wenzel (The Wizard's Tales), STAR TREK VOYAGER : AVALON RISING finds the Doctor "adopted" by a young squire who agree to help him with his mission. Along the way, the Doctor shares stories of Voyager's adventures, seen through the eye of his young companion in sequences rendered by artist David A. Roach (Batman/Demon) in a style reminiscent of Hal Foster's classic strip, Prince Valiant. Roach employs a modern style for the "real" Voyager sequences, which find the crew unable to help as the planet's climate takes its toll on the technology that allows the Doctor to function. As he begins to fade from existence, the Doctor - aided by the squire - must fight off a host of enemies, gain access to a forbiddingly enchanted tower and , of course, slay a dragon. The comic combines science-fiction with Arthurian fantasy, with full of surprises. AVALON RISING is a 48-page one-shot in the Prestige Format from Wildstorm Comics and edited by Jeff Mariotte, coming July, 2000. |
