Yes, my religious beliefs have changed somewhat since I've died. I will probably not choose to spend a lot of time talking about Jesus or Buddha or Mohammad on this site however, and I've been advised not to do so by those who are guiding me in this project. The reason for that is that this site is not intended to be a soapbox for any particular religious faith, and I don't want to isolate anyone or be too opinionated in my views. You'll see when you get here that what a lot of what people think of as religion in the earth plane is really just opinion. Too many people are deeply rooted in their own religious beliefs at the expense of opening themselves up to the beauty of other possibilities. If you play your cards right, and you arrive here in the right state of awareness, you'll come to know a higher truth.There are individuals who are somewhat narrow minded in their acceptance of other beliefs who can exist in the hereafter for quite some time, from what I've seen, without ever being aware that their way is not the only way.

Actually I was chosen for a number of reasons, and I don't want to boast too much, but they liked my ability to communicate in a way that will hopefully encourage people not to be afraid of talking to the dead. That was the main thing they were looking for. We're trying to move this concept of communicating with the deceased away from the realm of mysticism and the occult and make it more accessible to the average person. Besides, I was willing to work cheap and I had some Karmic debts that needed paying off.

We're (notice I said we're, not were) actually assigned name tags. When you first get here, the name tag is just a temporary one that's a peel-and-stick type of thing on which someone has written your name in felt pen. After you've been here a while, you get a much nicer, plastic one with your name embossed and your choice of a pin or clip-on style.

I've come to learn that just because somebody was famous in their earth life doesn't mean that every soul in the hereafter is going to be able to keep tabs on their whereabouts. There are no paparazzi here. Sorry to disappoint.

When I first arrived here, there was music playing at my welcoming party. It was John Lennon and Elvis doing a duet. It was an original song that they had apparently written together a short time after John's death in 1980. It was kind of a 50's style Rock and Roll number. It was pretty cool. I kept looking around for them, but didn't see them. I later found out that it was a pre-recorded thing and that John and Elvis are no longer creating music together due to creative differences.

I'm still hoping to be able to give you some insight into some of the people you want to know about, but this just might take more time than I originally thought.

Saying I've "lost all sense of time" implies that I'm out of touch with reality, but your concept of time is really only a "marker" as you put it. It's a scorecard for keeping events in order. Once you get here it will be a little more clear to you, but you will see how you will transcend the need for calendars and clocks in this reality.

One of the great difficulties I face in communicating with all of you is the limitation of language. Certain things are known and understood by us here, but being able to transfer those concepts into written words in such a way that you will understand is really quite a chore. I don't mean to be condescending, but to use an example, you may be able to communicate certain things to your dog that your dog understands. You can say, "do you want to go for a walk?" in an enthusiastic tone as you grab a leash and the dog knows exactly what you're saying. But try to explain to the dog exactly what it is that you do for a living and the dog has no idea what you're talking about. Your communication has certain limitations and your understanding of things is much greater than your dog's (unless you believe what you read in Far Side cartoons). Such is the challenge I'm faced with when trying to explain certain concepts to those of you still earthbound.

Regarding the Astral Plane, there is a certain inner-navigation sense that most of us are equipped with that keeps one from getting totally lost, and fortunately there are very helpful service station attendants every few miles who are more than happy to provide road maps and easy-to-follow directions.

If you're wondering what Astral Travel is like, the best description I can give you is to say that, when I was alive I rode motorcycles for a number of years (no, that's not how I died) and riding a high-performance motorcycle is the closest thing I can think of to Astral Travel. Except of course that Astral Travel is much quieter and you don't feel bumps as much. Actually, skiing is pretty similar too, and people who have flown glider planes tell me that is the closest thing to Astral Travel. It's that sense of movement with a great deal of freedom. Once you've learned to ski or ride a motorcycle well, you no longer have to spend a lot of conscious effort thinking about how to move about. It becomes automatic. Your movement is a direct extension of your thinking. You think about where you want to go and BAM! you're there. I guess that's why those sports (and many others) are so popular. It's something innate. It's a feeling we experienced before we were born on earth and something we are often trying to re-create in our lives.

So, if I were to visit Earth now (September of 1997 as I'm providing this answer), I would find myself in your present "time" and not in 2020 or in 1773. It is quite another technique to enter these other time dimensions and it is one that I have not yet learned completely. I'm afraid that if I were to attempt to visit Earth during the Mesozoic era, for instance, I might very well get lost as you describe, and I have been cautioned not to attempt it until I receive further instructions. Before I am able to accomplish that, I will need to provide some reasons for doing so, other than merely to amuse myself.

But as far as traveling from New York to Argentina, it's really very much like being in an airplane, you just go from one place to another. If you are familiar with landmarks in a geographic area you can find your way. Granted, I have never been to Buenos Aires, so I would probably have difficulty finding it without the assitance of the helpful attendants that I described in my last answer, but I can see the sun and experience the illusion of the sun "setting" in the east just as you can. In fact, one of the really cool things you can do is to follow the sun (apologies to the Beatles for copyright infringement here) as it sets, thereby creating the illusion of a perpetual sunset.

Most of the time, however, Astral Travel is done for the purpose of being near a particular event or individual, and not for the purpose of merely visiting a geographic location for its own sake. By merely focusing our energies on certain vibration frequencies of the people or events we want to be near, we are provided with a sort of internal navigation. You just sort of "know" where you need to go.

How did I do?

Actually, anyone who has ever died is here with me in one way or another. The word "people" isn't entirely accurate, and we don't think of ourselves as people, except when we're making some sort of joke. That's why you'll often hear me refer to individuals here as souls, because that seems to be the most descriptive word for what we are.

Yes, there are former serial killers in the hereafter, just as there are souls who have led lives that have contributed a great deal to the human race. The topic of what happens to these souls upon their arrival in the hereafter is one that I could discuss at great length, but to do so would take us far away from the context of your question. It is a subject which I intend to address with an entry on the Diary page in the near future.

Murderers and others who have committed great crimes against humanity are actually welcomed here with a great deal of compassion and understanding, and often they are experiencing a tremendous amount of guilt at the realization of the horror of their acts. Often, these people committed these acts while they were...how shall I say...not fully "spiritually conscious". Their behavior was often heavily influenced by earthly forces which they were too weak to resist. The true essence of our souls is neither good nor evil. The influences that act upon us, and our reaction to those influences determine the quality of our lives. Again, I digress...but I will address this topic in much more detail soon.

You know, some of the people that you often think of as just "average types" are often some of the wisest and most spiritually developed and emotionally mature individuals in your world, as well as here. There is so much illusion in the earth realm that, unless you are looking very closely, you may often miss life's most important gifts and lessons. You may be surprised to find that many of the poorest, "simplest" individuals on earth arrive here in a much higher state of awareness than those of us who led lives that were much more complicated.

People commit suicide for many different reasons. In most cases, an individual is trying to escape from a situation in which he/she feels there is no hope. I had previously commented on the integration process for those individuals who arrive here, shocked to find that the essence of who they are still exists.

The Heaven's Gate people, and some others who take their lives for similar reasons, have still committed a type of crime against humanity (albeit their own). They were given the gift of life and have chosen not to live it out to its natural conclusion, hoping to find a higher form of consciousness in the hereafter.

A higher form of consciousness is definitely what you will experience here, but what's the hurry? You are all going to get here sooner or later. There are so many things that you can do with your life on earth...well, this can become an entire topic in itself that I should perhaps address elsewhere.

To get back to your question, the Heaven's Gate people were, as I'm sure you've already guessed, wrong about many things, although their intentions were admirable. They were aware that a greater level of understanding was possible if they were to transcend the earth plane. They were aware that this could not be completely accomplished as long as they remained in the flesh. The irony of what they discovered when they got here is that most of our energies are focused on developing things and helping people in your world. Many of the projects we work on involve guiding and assisting those who are still living. What I'm saying is, they could have chosen to do a lot more good while they had the chance to while they were there. Instead, they attempted to find a shortcut to salvation and enlightenment. An admirable goal, but a selfish one. You didn't see Mother Theresa abandoning her projects in order to rush up and meet Jesus.

Their transition here is not weighed down with the burdens that most souls endure after a suicide, but they have their own set of problems to deal with, not the least of which is extreme embarrassment. Yes, we do laugh here, and the Heaven's Gate people were the butt of many a joke here, just as they were where you are. UFOs following the Hale-Bopp comet? Really, what were they thinking?

Just to finish this topic, the Heaven's Gaters are going through somewhat of a re-education process as their old belief systems struggle with what they are finding here. This happens to many, many souls here, though, and it is my understanding that several of the Heaven's Gate group are already well integrated into the regular routines of "life" here.
