Prologue 1 :The Himalayas, where we finally catch up with Azrum and his search for Tapestry. Upon reaching his destination he remarks that his not using magic has left his presence undetected. He enters a cave (which is guarded by a stone gargoyle) and realizes that his earlier assessment was wrong as he makes aquaintances with Soma, Tapestry's new 'toy', who subsequently flings Azrum at his mistress' feet, literally. End prologue...
Back at Dept. PSI, Amanda is watching as Branum tries to run some tests on Alea (again). It seems that Guy's death has left deeper scars than they thought and most of the tests are usually unsuccessful. Her skin seems to be incased in a crystalline red exoskeleton and she has aquired limited invulnerability and enhanced strength. Brawl is in the room with Alea as it seems that only his strength can rival hers, he is there to make sure that nothing goes awry and that nobody gets hurt.
As Amanda watches, halfway through the test Alea seems to go into a fit asking for Guy, at this point Brawl restrains her as gas is released to calm her down. Backlash appears and asks Amanda about the situation but awhile later Giovanni pages them to report to the relay station and stop by to fetch Styrian on the way.
At Styrian's quarters, Marc notices that his comm unit is not on, but before he has a chance to knock the door it opens and Jodi comes out. Suprise on Jodi and Marc's side show. Marc is obviously mad as he tells Styrian to report to the relay station.
At the station, Giovanni tells them of the plan to infiltrate the D'rahn who are currently stationary in Nevada. Vigor ever the enthusiast agrees on finally going offensive. Backlash, Taboo, Vigor, Brawl and Styrian are meant to cause a diversion so that Zealot and Ferrian can bring in Majestic by suprise.
The scene then changes straight to when Backlash's unit are in Nevada. The tail a few Daemonites and easily gain access into the Behemoth. Here they split into two groups, Backlash and Vigor on one team and Taboo, Styrian and Brawl on the other. Backlash tells the other team to wait while he and Vigor clear the way. As the two teams separate Backlash and Vigor immediatly encounter some Daemonites which the subsequently deal with.
Meanwhile Styrian is getting a bit restless and comments on Brawl who keeps on looking over his shoulder. Brawl states that he does that to keep an eye on their rear and at that point their entrance is suddenly closed and they are boxed in. As Brawl is about to 'punch' a way out an explosion hits them from behind.
Back with Backlash and Vigor meanwhile, they are trying to kill of the Daemonites so that they wouldn't report back to the D'rahn but the inevitably follow one (of the Daemonites) straight to the D'rahn Typhon and his lap-dogs Syth and Zenthrue. As Typhon explains that they were anticipated he shows them a monitor showing Brawl, Taboo and Styrian engaged in battle with Pildra and Haroth. Just then Zealot contacts Backlash on his comm-unit at which Backlash responds that everything is 'green'. He then explains to Typhon that they also have an ace up their sleeve as Vigor blasts a hole in the side of the Behemoth.
With that Majestic, Zealot and Ferrian fly in. Majestic challenges Typhon to battle which is met by much amusement from Typhon. In the following battle that ensued between Typhon and Majestic it seems that Typhon has the upper hand and just when you think that Majestic is going down he pulls out a weapon from his belt (which bears a striking resemblance to Ferrian's) and stabs Typhon in the chest. Amazingly Typhon is actually hurt by the weapon. Backlash who is watching asks Ferrian whether that was the way he defeated a D'rahn and Ferrian gives an affirmative. Pildra tries to help Typhon but is held back by Syth.
Gathering his wits again, Typhon grabs the weapon and crushes it flinging Majestic away at the same time. Thinking that the battle is over he prepares to attack Backlash and the rest of WildCORE, but before doing so, Majestic gets up and hits him unconcious with an energy blast. Then he proclaims himself the victor and orders the other D'rahn to surrneder, but Haroth teleports them away before further damage can be done and for now...the earth is safe....
Prologue 2 : A future time...a future place....this is the introduction of Geist, buy WildCORE #4 to see it for yourself.....
To be continued.....
My Comments/Notes: WildCORE just keeps getting better and better! Although we had to wait it was worth every cent paid. Issue four ends the D'rahn crisis story arc with Majestic defeating Typhon and buying them some time. The highlight of this issue is probably the introduction of Geist at the end. Also issue four is the last issue in which Tom McWeeney graces the book with his pencils.
D'ya have a thought for Issue #4? Comments? Complaints? Send 'em to me and I'll see whether I can put it up here. Mail me.
