This is a vinyl kit produced by Wave. Gigan stands a good 12 inches tall. The kit is scaled nicely to fit with several Billiken Godzilla kits. The first picture was taken at G-Con/Kaiju Con '97 in NYC, so some of you may have seen this kit in person.
The kit went together fairly easily except for the wings which required pins and a lot of putty. I used acrylic paints and blended a turquoise and dark green to make the main body color. The entire model was brush painted. Washes and dry-brushing were used to detail the figure.
It appears Trendmasters used the Wave Gigan for advanced solicitation of their Gigan figure. The photo on the back of Trendmasters packaging bears a remarkable likeness to the Wave kit. Which only makes Trendmasters final Gigan all the more dissappointing.
Below is a close-up of the base I built for the model. I used "N"-scale buildings and accessories such as the car and telephone pole. I picked up the wood stand at a craft store (my brother was kind enough to sand and stain it for me on very short notice).
