Bandai has issued a number of different Destroyer toys ranging from a deluxe 12" walker to small 1" super-deformed figures. The figures most fans are familiar with are the 8(or so)inch tall vinyl figures. Bandai released two different versions of Destroyer for this line.
The first is the crab-like "Aggregate" version. It stands about 6" tall
and is 8" long.
The detail is excellent. The vinyl is molded in dark red and is
high-lighted with tan
and metallic red paint. This figure is in scale with the Bandai Godzilla
Jr. figure(also
an excellent figure).
The other Destroyer is the "Final Stage" version. It stands 9" tall and
is 13" long (if
you account for the bend in his tail). The vinyl is molded in dark brown
and is
high-lighted with metallic red and tan. The detail is excellent (as
w/most Bandai
figures). The wings have been sculpted in the folded position, which is
the only flaw
with this figure. In contrast, the extended wings on the walking figure (pictured at the top of the page)
are very
impressive.
In addition to the figures above, two 4" final stage Destroyers have been released in Japan, one by Bandai and the other by Yutaka. The Bandai 4" is part of the Big Godzilla candy/toy line. The figure needs to be assembled and comes with a small packet of sugar pills. It is also part of a five-piece gift pack along with Burning Godzilla, Space Godzilla, Mecha-Godzilla and Ghidorah. The figures in the gift pack have a more detailed paint job then the candy figures. The Yutaka figure is vinyl and is available alone or in a two pack with Burning Godzilla. Bandai has also released small one-inch versions of Destroyer (not super-deformred) in final, aggregate, and flying stages, also various superdeformed figures are available.
And finally, Trendmasters had plans to introduce Destroyer into their North American Godzilla line-up. At present their classic Godzilla line has been put on hold, perhaps indefinately.
