Scathach and Aife born to the reigning High King of Caledonia and his mortal consort. The half-human, half-sidhe sisters are both trained as warriors, Aife raised as her father's heir (eventually assuming the throne as the High Queen of Caledonia). Scathach becomes a wanderer and a mercenary, acquiring, as she does so, nearly legendary prowess as a bard and a seer. She eventually returns to Caledonia and takes up her crown as the Queen of the Isles (Hebrides) whose chieftains and lairds swear fealty to her. The rivalry between Scathach and Aife over this move lasts for centuries.
The Roman occupation. Agricola advances into Scotland and is repulsed, Hadrian builds his wall on the Scottish frontier. Scathach and Aife vie for the title of the greatest warrior and teacher of warriors. Scathach builds Dunscaith Castle, her great freehold, astride the landward cliffs of Skye, the isle named for her. The birth of Scathach's twin daughters. The birth of the Huntsman and Killian u Uathach, his twin brother.Wenhaver of House Fiona, Princess of Westenmor in Arcadia, is born to King Reginald Stormbringer around the time of the Huntsman’s birth. Also, the first sightings of a woman who calls herself Alais. She allies with the family which will become House Revier, the Dreamersuns.
Wenhaver becomes very close friends with the Huntsman.
The Time of the Picts, and the arrival of the early Christian influences. The last of the pure White Howlers are consumed by the minions of the Wyrm and the Black Spiral Dancers emerge from their hives for the first time. Action is heavy on mainland Scotland, with Aife's forces doing frequent and bloody battle with both the werewolves and invading proto-Celestial Chorus mages intent on raping the holy places of pagan Scotland. In the wake of the bloodshed, the forces of the Queen of Air and Darkness wax powerful, and the Wild Hunt rides almost unchecked across the highlands of Scotland. The marriage of the Huntsman and Morwen Skydusk. The birth of Rhynn Wanderer, his father's exile into the Nightmare Realms and his mother's death.
Beginning of High Kingship at Tara, Meath
Saint Patrick comes as a Christian missionary
Lord Coruisk unsuccessfully attempts to wrest control of the Hebrides from Scathach, and is bloodily repulsed to the outer islands in a series of sea battles and island-hopping engagements. Rhynn spends his youth, one year with his Liam grandfather and one year with his Scathach grandmother, being trained in the ways of both his Houses. The Huntsman in service to the Queen of Air and Darkness as the leader of the Wild Hunt.
Viking raids on Scotland begin, as well as relations with the nordic trolls. Rhynn chooses to go to the court of the High King of Hibernia at his grandfather's request, and promises his grandmother that he will visit the High Kingdoms of Caledonia as well.
Vikings begin attacking the Irish coast
Picts and Scots unite under Kenneth McAlpin in the face of the Viking threat. Rhynn firmly established in the court of the High King as something of a curiosity; the scandal surrounding his birth and his father's actions as the Queen's Huntsman cast a long shadow over him. Liannan Silverhair refuses his suit and mocks him before the assembled court; humiliated, he leaves Hibernia and travels to Skye.
Norse build and occupy Dublin and Waterford
The Huntsman grows weary of the Queen's service, but finds no way to escape her influence. Morgan MacKenna, chieftain of the Clan MacKenna, challenges him to a duel to protect her family from the ravaging of the Wild Hunt; in her fiery spirit and eventual self-sacrifice, he finds the strength to break with the Queen. The Huntsman requests sanctuary with his great-aunt, Aife, who grants it, and the Mask of Tears is created in an effort to contact the spirit of Morgan MacKenna. The Huntsman vanishes from Caledonia just before Rhynn's arrival in the country, leaving behind the Mask of Tears and a warning to keep it from any living soul--a warning which is subsiquently ignored, resulting in the spectacularly brutal undoing of Aife's consort by the Mask's own power. Rhynn travels to Aife's court in Caledonia, where he is received rather better than he was in Hibernia. Aife, childless and suspecting herself barren, declares Rhynn her heir and creates him Prince of Glenfinnan, the province facing the Island Kingdom of her sister. Rhynn takes up residence in Glenfinnan, and guardianship of the Mask of Tears.
Reign of High King, Brian Boru, killed at Battle of Clontarf (which routed the Vikings from Ireland)
Rhynn rules as Prince of Glenfinnan, despite conflicts within Caledonia over his appointment. He suppresses the rebellion of one of his Dukes, Mharyon, and, as part of the peace settlement between their houses, marries Mharyon's daughter Liannan, who is as displeased by the alliance marriage as she was by Rhynn's original suit. Frequent conflicts with magi, werewolves, pirates, and the forces of the persistent Lord Curuisk are continual irritants to the peace of his reign. Liannan's continued barrenness (and the exact frequency of her visits on her husband from her own heriditary lands) wags the tongues of commoners and nobles alike. The Queen, enraged by the loss of the Huntsman, ravages Caledonia and the Isles, ranging as far afield as the northern and western parts of Hibernia, England, and Wales in her fury. The Mask likewise waxes in power and attempted influence.
Rory O’Conor, last native High King of Ireland
Arrrival of the Normans
Gallowglasses (mercenary soldiers) come to Ulster from Scotland
around the turn of the Century, Wenhaver bears a daughter to the Huntsman under circumstances yet unknown. Elaine grows up with her mother.Wenhaver and her brother Aerinn meet Alais and convince their father to adopt her. Alais becomes Genevion Goldeneyes, she is also adopted into House Revier by common consent.
Wenhaver is wooed by Aryck of Gwydion when Elaine is about 13 or 14, and eventually the two are wed. Aryck’s twin, Edwynn, initially shows some intrest in Genevion, but she distrusts him. Eventually she leaves for other times for a while.
The Shattering. Nobles of all stripes retreat to Arcadia. A titanic battle between the forces of Aife of Caledonia and the Queen of Air and Darkness occurs around the walls of Aife's great fortress-freehold in the heart of the Highlands; the resulting glamourous cataclysm rips the freehold entirely out of the mortal plane of existence, and locks both the High Queen and the Wild Hunt in a prison in the Near Dreaming. Rhynn sends Liannan through the trod his freehold guards to Arcadia, along with most of the rest of his retainers, himself electing to remain in the mortal world with the rest of House Scathach.
- Trods start to collapse and banality begins to spread across Europe.
Rhynn lives up to his surname, wandering Caledonia and England in search of some sign of his father, aiding those he can from the ravages of banality surging through the world. Nearly as human as he is fae, he withstands the onslaught better than most, and willingly undergoes the Changeling Way, linking his faerie soul with the blood of Clan MacKenna, in whose blood Liam and Scathach lines already flourish. The Mask continues its subtle attempts to subborn his true nature and turn him to the darkest part of his Unseelie nature; it is unsuccessful, but he now recognizes the pure malevolence that powers it, and vows to keep it from harming any other. Shortly after making this oath, Rhynn is killed by a troll chieftain who believes him responsible for the murders of his kin, and the Mask, terrified that it is losing its only link to corporeal existence and nourishment, begins the cycle that lately restarted with the Company of Tears....
Irish parliamentary independance declared
Anglo-Irish parliament acknowledges Henry VIII of England as king of Ireland and head of the Chruch of Ireland. Suppression of the monasteries- Sidhe begin to slowly return to Arcadia
- Commoners in the Britsh Isles begin making pacts with mortals, and fae/mortal unions commence.
- This practice starts to spread to the Americas.
-Wenhaver, Aryck, Edwynn, and Elaine go to America, to what will become New York State, and there Wenhaver starts Westhaven. They also bring commoner Faeries and a few mortal retainers. Elaine spends some time in the court of a distant cousin of theirs, a Lady Igraine, to learn the basics of her role as Champion to Wenhaver. The Huntsman and his brother set up shop in an abandoned freehold in the southwest of what will one day be the United States. The freehold, belonging to a lost Nunnehi Family, sits at the edge of the Desert of Eternal Night, a naturally occuring source of Dark Glamour, apparently as a guard post. Cautious relations with the local Nunnehi ensue. Killian wanders far and wide, while the Huntsman studies the Desert
- Trods begin collapsing at an alarming rate, more sidhe leave for Arcadia
Genevion Goldeneyes retreats to Reve d’Or with the rest of House Revier, not to Arcadia as Reginald had ordered her, though she is able to avoid an irreparable break between them.
- Some trods collapse permanantly. Mass exodus of all but House Scathach to Arcadia.
Aryck is killed as he and Wenhaver and Edwynn attempt to return to Arcadia at her father’s insistance. Edwynn holds Wenhaver back from helping him. Elaine, taking another Trod, is left behind when she stays to defend the Trod. She goes to the Huntsman’s brother, still out there somewhere, and joins House Scathach. Eventually she is reborn as Elenora Mendez.
Aerinn is banished from Arcadia and sent to Earth. Wenhaver and Elnora, Reginald’s wife (perhaps not Wenhaver’s mother) resent him for this action.
- Silver's Gate collapses. All nobles have left, and modern changelings are appearing. True fae have vanished from Earth.
- Commoners fend for themselves, with the help of House Scathach. Slowly their own orders start to evolve. Time continues with no contact to Arcadia or the sidhe.
The MacKenna family immigrates to America and settles in Pennsylvania, bringing with them their extremely mixed heritage and expanding on it by intermarriage with other supernaturally influenced families.
The Industrial Revolution and the Civil War, coupled with the resurgence of mysticism in Victorian era England, pumps massive amounts of Dark Glamour into the metaphysical atmosphere, opening trods into the Nightmare Realms in the worst and most crowded cities of America and Europe. Sensing this, the Huntsman begins forming the Company of the Shadowed Blade. Queron Nightbringer of House Eiluned emerges from the Nightmare Realms in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Machail of House Balor emerges in London. The Company of the Shadowed Blade heavily involved in both WWI and WWII in an effort to stem the gradually growing tide of Nightmare minions emerging from these sources of Dark Glamour.
Siobhan Skyfire born to Alastair MacKenna and his wife.
Siobhan experiences her Chrysalis and is adopted by the Eshu Akbar Worldstrider.
- Elaine is reincarnated in Caer ABE as Ellet, who I currently lack a surname for. She experiences the Chrysalis in 1967, is perhaps taken in by Lady Cassandra or another fae, and is a page at Mharyon's court when Erik arrives there in 1970.
Killian u Uathach is killed by Queron Nightbringer and imprisoned in a pocket of the Near Nightmare; the Huntsman, believing his brother killed by cold iron, is stricken. Kestrel Westmark is held captive by Queron, forced by cantrip to remain in her animal form and act as his hunting falcon. She is eventually rescued from her bondage.
- Trods reopen to Arcadia and a host of sidhe begin to return. Suspiscious commoners and House Scathach help the five exiled houses re-intergrate themselves in the modern world. The sidhe return to their old freeholds and bring back their old keeps. Slowly, they return to their own spots of rule. Eventually, they try to enforce their ancient laws, which modern commoners have no patience with.Fourteen year old Wendy MacGregor is exchanged for Wenhaver of Westhaven. Shortly after the Chrysalis she stumbles into Westhaven and reclaims it without incident, the Holding itself recognized her. Wendy’s grandmothers MacGregor find out about Wenhaver and accept her, but don’t tell any one else in the family that she is Faerie.
- [The year is an arbitrary decision by me. The NoIK could not have been in '69 as the sidhe were not back yet. '70 still seems to early. '71 seems about right.] Several ambassadors from the commoners gather in a freehold to meet with the sidhe. They are all murdered in a great massacre - all with Cold Iron blades.Wenhaver and Colin meet in Westhaven. Wenhaver recognizes Aryck’s eyes in his face, but Edwynn does not.
- [Similiar wars in British Isles lasted three years, so I gave this the same span.] The Accordance Wars are fought having two major climaxes. One, the death of Dyfell. Two, the discovery of David Ardrey, High King David. He brings about the eventual peace.David was only a boy during the Accordance wars. If he was 12 then, he would be 45 now. I would figure he would have been between 8 and 12, otherwise I doubt he could have possibly lifted the sword, or he would be too old to be referred to as a boy.
Wenhaver and Colin are murdered in their room by Edwynn the day before they are to be married. Wendy’s grandmothers inherit the land on which Westhaven stands, and it has not left their hands to the present day.
