Introduction
I must profess - I hava a craze for keeping pets. In the past, I had reared canaries, a poodle, 2 cats, countless fishes, frogs, and even 2 turtles. My frogs and turtles were released as they were growing big and needed more freedom than a typical Singapore HDB flat aparment could provide. Let's see, I released my frogs earlier in 98 and my turtles were released on 14 Nov 97.
Nowadays, I have a cat, a canary, and a hamster named Suzie whom I brought home on 30 Dec 05. I got Suzie from Serangoon North - the pet shops galore in the North Eastern part of Singapore. You can find her photos below.
I even have the following electronic pets: Oddballz, Catz, Dogz II, Dogz
III, Catz III, Catz V, Dogz V, Creatures, Creatures 2, Creatures III, Aquazone, and El-fish. Anyway, this site is actually about hamsters, and boy they are such
great fun! You'll see why as you read on.
Total number of surviving hamsters = 1 (as of 10 Jan 06)

Hamster Tips
Here are some Hamster Tips:
-
Use shavings for bedding. The hamsters love a nice,
warm bedding. Don't use shredded newpapers - they are toxic to hamsters.
-
Get a good water bottle (drip type). Water dishes
may tend to spill when the hamsters run around and knock into the dish.
-
Make sure you get a wheel. Hamsters can run about
6 km every night - they sure do need their exercise.
-
Hamsters are nocturnal creatures. Don't place them
in direct sunlight.
-
Watch out for colds and wet tails (diarrhoea). If
you suspect your hamster is sick, take him to the vet. As for my first (and
last) visit to the vet, I got a container of dissolved penincillin and a syringe
to feed my sick hamster a single drop three times a day. Nope... never going
back to the vet...
-
If your hamster has babies, never touch them. The
smell of humans is distressing to the mother - she might eat the babies.
If you have any hamster tips, send them my way.
