The following are a summary of a club project to eventually get 101 Blessings Posted on line.
#1, message 6934, Faeona -
I thought it might be fun (since we have huge swarms of members here and only a handful talk) to try something that would get more people out of hiding and maybe do some good too.
And this would be something that (hopefully) wouldn't require any rebuttal from anyone.
I want to propose a project on our club (if it's okay with you Lilliane) of 100 Blessings. I think it would be nice if we could get 100 members here to post a blessing...something you say at close of circle to the circle, or something you say when people gather, or a request for blessings that you use. I just think it would be positive, fun and interesting.
So? Anyone interested? For the sake of readability, lets try to keep them manageable size.
I'll start off.
"May the East where the sun rises show me how to begin anew each day, always with my spiritual mission before me, leading the way.
May the South, the place of growth and destiny, show me how to grow closer to the person I came here to become and the mission I came here to accomplish, growing always in love, wisdom and understanding.
May the West, the place of looking within, help me always to look inward first before I look outward to judge or blame. May the North, place of releasing, take way from me those things that would hold me back on my path, trusting that I will always be provided for.
May I always feel the Earth under my feet and know that I am a child of the Mother.
May I always have the blessing of stars, rain and blue sky above me to remember that I am more than this physical existence.
To all my relations, the standing ones, the stone people, the two leggeds, the fish people, the creepy crawlys, the flying ones, and all others, may I be in good relation.
So I ask.
So may it be."

Smile.
I came up with the blessing of 'Smile' a few years ago.
I was in the middle of a ritual - which I wasnt pleased with. It was being run by a burned out old hippy whos idea of ritual was to dance around in a circle chanting in 'Archaeic Greek' - this was the same for every ritual, bar none (it was here that I learned that not all pagans were good, smart, or well meaning - this was before I leaned they could be dangerous - that would come only a little later). But they were the only gig in town, and since I was in a hostile, foreign country - Texas - I didnt complain.
There was a part in the ritual when everyone was supposed to turn to the person next to them, dab a bit of oil on their forehead and bless them. When it came to me, I turned to a young woman next to me - she had this serious, intense look on her face.
Now, previous to this, my experience with Wiccan ritual was from a boisterous, loud, fun group up in Boston - they were serious in their beliefs, but they werent gloomy or hypersensitive - in fact, they often got quite bawdy if it was right for it (the HP recently regailed us with a redition of the Sex Pistol's "Friggin' in the Riggin" for the Beltaine bardic circle). Frankly, if I'd wanted to be in a superserious ritual that I wasnt enjoying, I'd haul my lazy ass out of bed on Sunday morning and go to a Christian church.
So I looked at this woman, whom I saw both a complete lack of joy, and even a little fear - a dabbed a bit of oil on her forehead, then looked in her eyes.
"What does this girl need the most?" I asked myself
So I said to her simply "Smile"
And she did.

May you all be witnesses to the aurora borealis tonight; the sun's particles hitting our atmosphere.
I suppose we can imagine it as the Lady dancing..... ;)
#4, message 6945 & 6952, myrdrake -
I use this one very freely (blessing meals; a gathering of people; myself just before I enter a potentially trying situation, etc...) although I learned it as the 'trigger phrase' for the union of the Lord and Lady in the 'symbolic' great rite.
Lord and Lady,
Loving and Beloved,
Be with us now,
And bestow upon us,
The fruits of thy blessing,
Love, Wisdom, and Understanding,
Be Thou Blessed,
Blessed Be...
Now those last two lines have a little bit of a trick involved ("what?" you say, "A Trick?!?") and it has to do with how you let the energy flow during the words. The 'Be Thou Blessed' flows out from you to Them, and the 'Blessed Be' is you echoing their love as it returns back from Them through you into that which you are blessing.

As the kind of solitary who has no set formulae but just kinda works from the moment, I can't 'fess up to any particular words of personal wisdom, but I would like to make mention of this...
It's from (of all dubious sources!) my favourite Emerson Lake & Palmer track 'Closer to Believing' and it seems to sum up the way I've always walked my path. (Knowing their propensity to pinch classical sources I wouldn't be remotely surprised if it had some 'provenance' in any case.)
"Be closer to believing though your world is torn apart, for a moment changes all things and to end is but to start, and if your journey's unrewarded may your god lift up your heart, you are wind blown... but you are mine."
There's a message for all humanity (and especially Pagans) in there I feel - it's always touched me anyway. We are all the Goddess' children, whatever or however we call her, and that's been a great comfort when my world's fallen apart.

May we always have a light to help lead us.
May we always have a path to help guide us.
May our spirits always soar to see all the beauty around us.
Though our lights have different hues
and we tread down separate paths--
May our spirits still rise above and see the
beauty in each one of us.

I have a six year old. She uses this one. She "knows" thegod rides across the sky in the sun and the goddess does the same in the moon. This way they take turns watching over their children. So she says,
"Lord and Lady who ride in the sky above please keep us safe down here surrounded in love."

Morning:
Mother Earth,Father Sun,
Watch over us both til day is done.
Night:
God of the Day,Goddess of Night,
as we sleep keep us within your sight
And when I am feeling anxious or upset,or am hurt, I use an old Hindu
melody for a chant.......& sing:
Oh my Goddess come to me,Oh my Goddess come to me,
Oh my Goddess come to me,come to me,Oh come to me.
(I sing this over & over until I am calm again.)

May the powers of air bless this school.
May it's winds run through it and aid communication.
May the powers of fire bless this school.
May it's fire spir creativity from within.
May the powers of Earth bless this school.
May it's strength help it grow.
May the powers of water bless this school.
May it's depths spir deep emotions throughout.
May the God and Goddess bless this school.
May their combined efforts spir the life force which drives us all to continue on in life and make every effort possible to succeed.
(commentary from myrdrake, message# 7042)
I do find the word 'spir' interesting. My first thought was that it was a contraction for 'inspire', but later figured that I would have spelled it 'spur'. So, by spelling it 'spir', for me it adds that inspiration to the motivation, interesting things these vowels...

Dear Father and Mother God, surround me with a white light of the Holy Spirit.
A gold light of God centeredness. A purple light of spirituality and, a silver light of consciousness.
Cement my intellect to my emotion. Release all negativity within. And, keep all negativity from entering.
These things I ask in Gods name.....amen.

But not as much as the days to come,
May blessing always litter the path on which you walk,
And May you reside for all time in true knowledge of the love of the Goddess and God.
So mote it be.

This is not exactly a blessing but it's a lovely poem I wrote about the Rain and Mother Earth I thought you'd all enjoy.
Like a lover, it begins slow.
Soft and sweet, caressing the earth below.
Barely touching, it teases her senses.
With a promise of more, it penetrates her defenses.
Now a faster tempo, it reaches deep.
Forever holding her soul to keep.
Nourishing plants and filling lakes,
It always gives more than it takes.
Lighter now, it falls from the sky.
Nearly gone, more like a sigh.
Soon the storm is spent, leaving the way it came.
As for Mother Earth, she'll never be the same.
(commentary from myrdrake, message# 7815)
I think that Emeraldmoon's Poem belongs in with the blessings, I suggest the name "Storm Blessing" for it, and feel that it has some good things to think about for anyone facing adversity (in a rainstorm, so to speak).

With me I have a 'Book of Shadows' that has been in my family for generations and as its passed down, more and more information is added. It's now become a collection of 6 different books.
The one thing I can say that when my ancestors began writing it they started off by blessing it. I can't give you the exact blessing since it was written in old Irish but I can give you this one that works just as well:
"I will serve the Great Goddess
And give reverence to the Great God
I am Pagan
A stone in the ancient circle
Standing firmly
Balanced on the Earth
Yet open to the winds of the beyond
And enduring through time
May the old gods witness my words
Blessed be"
A friend of mine used this blessing for her self initiation and in her 'Book of Shadows'. I like it for either.

May your mother's smile shine through your eyes,
may your fathers strength flow through your veins,
may the gods be kind in your heart and soul,
May the godess watch your steps through life,
Follow your heart to the end of the day, and sleep the peaceful sleep, that the godess may keep you one more day.
The above blessing is intended for those who seek the wisdom of the godess in their every day lives.

Blessed Samhain
As the Wheel of the Year makes its final turn,
Let us reflect on our accomplishments.
Remember and enjoy the memories of the year.
Celebrate what wisdom we have gained
From the lessons we have learned.
We have gathered what we need to sustain us
For the cold months to come.
Now comes the season of rest and recuperation.
The land will sleep the sleep of death.
Yet fear not,
For all life must return to the Earth.
Inside each seed, bud, and root
Is the promise given of another Spring.
In death there is promise of new life.
For this we give thanks.

I was walking outside my house tonight and I've decided that missouri is the most beautiful place on earth when you are standing on a country road. I stood outside on my gravel road and looked up at the sky. The lady shines brightly tonight, it's so bright that you can't see many stars. Our full moon is beautiful, the air is warm (about 65 degrees). The air is quiet and the only thing you can hear is a soft breeze in the silver maple trees. Kinda makes me feel poetic. LOL. So I thought of a very simple blessing for such a lovely night.
O Lady shining brightly in the night sky above,
blessed is this place I love.
Quietly your warm breathe flows as the breeze kissing my face and caressing the trees.
Not a dog barks, nor a bird calls, nary a sound, there is nothing but respectful silence all around.
The silence is in awe of the beauty of this place, given to me by The Lord and Ladies' grace.
Bless this night of quietness, magick, and love,
As it shines with the gentle light from above.
And so Bless this hallowed ground beneath me,
with the light of the moon
~Blessed Be!

Angel Blessing
Angel of Light be by my side
Friend, Protector, Guardian, Guide.
Fly with me through dark of night
and wake me with the morning light.
Whisper words that guide my way.
Lend me strength and grace each day.
When I feel I've lost my direction
give me faith and protection.
Let me walk a path of light.
Give me the courage to do what is right.
If I feel alone remind me
Spirit walks all around me.

We (my line) honors Persephone and Hades at this time. However, I do have a translation of an Orphic hymn to Hekate:
Hecate, Lovely Lady of the Triple Crossroads,
Of Heaven, of Earth and Sea as well
Sepulchral One, saffron-clad among the tombs,
Celebrating the Bacchic Mysteries with the Souls of the Dead,
Daughter of Perses, Lover of Desolation
Taking joy in deer and dogs;
Nocturnal One, Lady of the Dogs, Invincible Queen,
She of the Cry of the Beast, Ungirt One,
Possessed of Form Unapproachable!
Bullherder, Universal Sovereign Empress,
Mistress, Guide, Bride, Nurturer of Youths, Mountain Wanderer.
I entreat Thee, O Maiden, to be present at these sacred rites,
With grace to the Oxherd and a joyful heart eternal.

It's always a good idea to purify and ward your house against negativity. One of the best simple house charms I know is to charge the outer walls with the light of Spirit -
Three times let the light flow into the floor -
the first time seal the flow with the words, "This, my intent, shall be."
the second time, "In this way it shall continue."
and the last time "So it is."
then do the same to each wall from the nearest north to the nearest east, then south then west, finally ensoul the ceiling.
When you have the boundries enspirited, address them all together like this -
"North, East, South, West, Below and Above hear me.
You who are the bastions of Our Home,
Guard 'gainst that which brings harm or negativity.
Hear My Will, Attend to Me, and As My Will, So Mote It Be."
Then sweep (not vacuum, this is broom magic) every room from the walls to the center of the room, pulling all negative things to the center, let them fasten to whatever dirt you are getting, then pick it all up in a dustpan, put it in a bag and get it out of the house and either into the trash or released on the winds outside your place.
After doing this, you can add other cleansing rituals, but I recommend repeating this one at least once a year to keep the
spell fresh.

Be Thankful...
If you woke up this morning with more health than illness, you are more blessed than the million who will not survive the week.
If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of
starvation, you are ahead of 500 million people around the world.
If you have food in your refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof over your head and a place to sleep, you are richer than 75% of this world.
If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace, you are among the top 8% of the worlds wealthy.
If your parents are still married and alive, you are very rare, even in the United States or the United Kingdom.
If you hold up your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful, you are blessed because the majority can, but most do not.
If you can read this message, you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world that cannot read anything at all.
If you can pass this along you may be blessed in ways you may never even know, and - if you have friends and family that truly love you - then consider yourself blessed
May the Goddess smile on each and every one of you!

Now you will feel no rain, for each of you will be shelter for the other
Now you will feel no cold for each of you will be warmth to the other.

And may your days together be good and long upon the earth.

Here is my 2 cents. I have troubles coming up with a baby blessing, sorry about that. What I have here is a little daily prayer of mine. I don't know whether you can count this as a blessing, but it would be ok with me if you don't want use it.
My Lord and Lady please
shower us with the light
which gives us clear minds to make the right decisions
carry our troubles away with the breeze
so we may focus on our tasks
strengthen our fields
so we may stay grounded and not to be distracted
may we guided by Your wisdom every step along our paths

One that i can share, tho is a 'youth' spell; from the reactions of others, it really does work. As you are gently massaging your face cream on before bed, chant 3 times:
As I rub this cream
upon my face,
lines and wrinkles i erase
Youthfulness
returns to me
This is my will
So mote it be.
I know, sounds silly, but it rhymes, is easily remembered and works. If you are young, and not troubled by such things, the chant is easily changed to erase fear and/or negativity, replacing with assuredness or whatever it is you would like to have.

I wrote the following invocation a few weeks ago for some close friends who are struggling financially. It is very close to my heart and I hope that some of you may find it helpful in your journey.
Great Mother of the North, I summon you!
Spread your branches above me,
That they may protect me;
Spread your roots below me,
That they may ground me.
Let me grow,
And be nurtured in your fertile soil.
Great Mother Danu, I summon you!
I ask for your guidance as I search
For creativity,
Prosperity and wealth;
That I may hear your quiet whisperings.
Bless me with your cool breath,
That it may inspire me.
Great Mother of the North, I welcome you!
Brightest blessings!
Love and light,

This can be used whenever you are going into a new abode. It doesnt matter if it is an apartment or a house; it only matters that it is new to you.
Combine the following items in a jar that allows about 1 inch of headroom between the ingredients and the top of the jar.
In this order add to the jar:
1 Tbsp. Salt
1 Tbsp. Breadcrumbs
1 Tbsp. Dry milk
1 Tbsp. Lavender flowers
1 Tbsp. Ground sage
1 Tbsp. Apple pie spice
1 Tbsp. Earth from the garden
All of these things represent some form of sustenance or an ingredient to something that will bring well being to you and those that live in your house. Place the jar in a closet or cupboard that is nearest to the main door. If things are really working out well you will have a door that faces the eastern
horizon, if not go to whatever door or window that does face in this direction and use the following charm of making.
Mixing, Making, No heart breaking;
By this charm we offer what we have to those that may come to our door in need.
Mixing, Making, No heart breaking;
By this charm we seek warmth and food for all who enter this house with love.
Mixing, Making, No heart breaking;
By this charm we invite all spirits of love, light, and laughter to visit with us in peace and contentment for as long as we abide within these walls.

Hail Freyja!

Thank you for watching over me
Thank you for watching over Kara (her sister)

Here's a little remedy I found in my 2001 Witches' datebook and now use on a regular basis. It really works and it's wonderful on those days when I
just can't stand the taste of chamomile by itself...
1 tsp English Breakfast tea
1 tsp chamomile, dried
1 tsp elder flower, dried and crushed
2 tsp hops, dries and crushed
2 tsp rosehips, dried
1 tsp valerian root, dried and crushed
"Here is a good tea for days when stress seems overwhelming. You can make the tea in an automatic tea maker or use two pots, straining the herbs from one into the other with boiling water. Before you pour the tea, swirl it in the pot and say:
Chase away pain and stress
Chase away all duress
Chase away the negative
Open up the positive
--Ann Moura"
I hope it works as well for all of you as it has for me!

Here's my 2cents- I've done this for every home I have moved into- (well recently anyway *griN*)
- burn sage and carry the smoking incense into every room. (this purifies)
- Seal each window with salt water. (draw a pentagram on the window after
dipping your finger in the salt water). I also seal it with magick but that is everyone's own preference.
- place purified quartz crystals in every corner of the room, and one in the center if possible. This balances the room and absorbs any negativity.
- I also cast a circle in the main room and call the elements, asking them to bless and protect my home and all who enter with peace in their hearts.
- finally I will light a protection candle, and let it burn itself out.
Hope this gives some ideas!!!
brightest blessings and balance!!

As you take the next step in your journey, may you remember those who loved you.
May the tears shed for your passing equal the tears of joy in your next life.
Now, take Her hand, and enter the Summerland, knowing that I am a better person for having known you.
My love and blessings take with you to your rest. May you soon rejoin the dance of life.

Yet another 'wonderful' thing happened between these posts... Yahoo 'improved' its service yet again (why is it that every time a service is 'improved' it bocomes less usable? Sorry, rhetorical question, that.), and now we're a Group! well, actuall, there's at least two groups, the one that is most current is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/thesolitarycircle2001 if you'd like to check it out...

(Actually I'm going to split this message in half, since there's two blessings, so you aren't seeing double on the next header.)

Here ya go...
A PRAYER FOR THE FEAST OF ST. FRANCIS
Remember, in our prayers today
All creatures wild or tame;
Exotic, unfamiliar ones
And household pets you call by name;
The bold, the shy, the slow or swift,
The ones with teeth and claws,
The ones with scales or shells or fins,
The ones with hooves or paws;
The shaggy-maned, the silken-furred,
The winged and feathered of the skies,
All those with antler, horn, or tusk,
All those with gentle eyes;
The caged, the free, the ones who toil,
The ones who crawl or swim or sting,
The ones most loved, the ones most feared,
The ones who howl or buzz or sing;
All dwellers of the sea or plain,
Of desert, mountain, jungle, farm;
Pray for the creatures of the earth
To keep them safe from harm.

(second half)
or this for the sick and dying pet:
TIME TO SAY GOOD-BYE
As we lay our hands upon you,
Before your final rest,
Our hearts surround to love you,
And thank you for your best.
Our home you watched and treasured,
Our lives you truly blessed.
Lessening now your burdens,
We tend your tired bones.
Let us be your pillow,
Then wings to take you home.
Listen for God's calling,
Sweet promises of peace.
Old friend, leap to Heaven,
Suffering released!

I found these at http://junecotner.com/bkinfov3.html
They're taken from a book titled "Animal Blessings: Prayers and
Poems Celebrating Our Pets" by June Cotner.

This is one that I wrote a few years ago. It is for blessing the Yule Wreath that I made to celebrate the sabbat.
Goddess of Winter,
I praise you:
Goddess of driving rains,
Of hail and snow, wind and storm.
Goddess of crisp winter mornings,
Of frosted windcsreens under Moonlight,
Of snowy grass under foot,
Of heaters, radiators, and glowing fires.
I thank you, my Lady.
Goddess of the cycles of life,
I make this decoration in your
Image - Eternal
no beginning and without end.
I thank you for the gift of Winter.
For the barrenness of the Season,
For knowledge of death and loss
That I may await the re-birth,
With anticipation, hope, and love.
Goddess of spring re-born,
Of trees bursting with buds,
Of stark hillsides soon to be
Re-clothed
In your finest verdant hues.
Goddess of colour , of contrasts,
Maiden, Mother, and Crone,
Goddess of laughter and tears,
I thank you for being part of my
life.
God of the forst and fields
God of new-born deer
You who readily give your seed
So that the Mother can grow
heavy with Child and bring forth
new life.
I thank you for your gradual Return
For the warmer days soon to come
For your ability to warm to hearts,
Minds, and souls of all you meet.
I thank you for the gift of wine
And dance - For Bacchanalian
pleasures of the soul and flesh
For the gift of life renewed.
I give to you, my Lord and Lady,
This decoration.
A tribute to the Wheel you ever
turn in our lives.
A tribute of love for all you are
For all you have been
And all you are yet to be.

Blessing on the Day
Goddess place a blessing on the day, and
All my thoughts and all I say,
That I might think, speak and act
According to my vow and pact
To ever mind the rule of three
To cause no harm and gentle be
To respect both visible and unseen
Honor present and what has been.
Goddess bless me on this day
That I may cherish and keep Her way.
Air and water, fire and earth
Cycle of death and rebirth
Ever with the flow I go,
As I pray, may it be so.

Are we still updating the blessing pages? If so, I'd like to submit
this one.
I've been making a quilt for a friend's newborn nephew,
with little sailboats & rays of sun quilted into it. Of course,
it's taken WAY longer than I'd planned, but now it's almost done. I
like to put a little note on each of my quilts, if they're made for
a particular person, so it's like I'm hugging them whenever they're
wrapped up in it. I came up with this for his quilt, and I think it
might fit with the blessings project. Hope you like it!
I wish for you
Sunshine,
A warm breeze,
Soft rain,
Rainbows,
Promises kept,
Love remembered.

If you want these for the blessings page Myrdrake - please feel free.
Spirits of fire, Spirits of air, Spirits of water, Spirits of earth -
Be with me, guide me, lend me your power,
Bless this spell I cast this hour.
Hearth and Home, hearth and home
Keep us safe when evils roam
Cast out the bad, bring in the good
keep safe this place we call our home
Hearth and home, Hearth and home
Our families strength in flesh and bone
Awaken hope, awaken peace, awaken good
within the bricks and stone
From roof to floor
From wall to wall
Dispel the harm
Hear my call.
This home is ours and ours alone
protect it and guard it
its people, its essence, its energy, its stone
All evil be gone - leave us alone
Let our house be free
So mote it be
.............................................
Another part was:
Hecate, hear me - tis your strength I need
Rid the world of these evils who have wronged us indeed
Hecate, hear me - grant me this boon
Bring the burglars to justice, and let it be soon
Before others suffer, before more are harmed
bring vengeance and justice to those who committed this wrong.
.............................................................
Last bit of all included this
Let peace return to me and mine
Let hope renewed grow like the vine
Weaving itself into harmony true
Binding us all, each me to each you.

Subject: Here is a Fairy circle casting I wrote!
Circle casting: Walk around your circle clockwise, visualize a blue
mist around the circumference of the circle. Invision the mist
geting taller and powerful each time around. While your walking
point your wand, athame (or index finger) at the side of the circle.
Say the following:
First Circle Walk -
"Round and round the circle be cast, protection be fast. Circle be
light and circle be tight."
Second Circle Walk -
- Fairies of the Zephyr Wind,
blustery you blow guarding my/our circle with your magick again.
- Fairies of Fire, blend and twist,
the magick I/we weave higher and quick.
- Fairies of still Ponds so deep,
swell and pound your protection around my/our circle waves sweep.
- Fairies of Hill and Glen,
guide my/our magick from beginning to end.
- Ancient Goddess and God of the Fairies I/we call,
to guide the circle will stand and not fall.
- A place with no time I/we now do stand,
magick by will, molded by hand.
Third Circle Walk -
"With flame, incense, salt and sea.
As I/we do will, so mote it be!"
Circle release:
- Ancient Goddess and God of the Fairies I/we thank you for
being my/our guide.
- Fairies of Water have protected well, now guiding the magick
drift back to their Ponds.
- Fairies of Fire weaving the magick, now flicker back to
their homes.
- Fairies of the Zephyr Wind have guarded well, now guiding
the magick wispily they blow back from whence they came.
- Fairies of the Hill and Glen guiding the magick, back home
they go.
- I/We return to my/our life/lives with magick to fulfill. May
the circle remain open yet unbroken. Merry have we met to merry
meet again.

This was posted after a lot of spam from Domenique which we can't control, having no moderator.
I'm adding it here as an illustration of how a blessing doesn't always have to be a 100% positive statement.

This is a place of Light and Love.
No darkness or evil can remain here.
By the power of the goddess,
I order all darkness to leave at once!
Out with the darkness! In with the Light!
In other words, leave this space alone! You're not wanted!
Blessed Be to all others!
