First contact with this race was first made on or about stardate 50912, when a Nyrian mysteriously appeared aboard Voyager. Nyrians have an equal build to humans with regards to height and weight, but have an aversion to bright light and cold temperature. The mean temperature for Nyrians is typically around 45 degrees Celsius (113 degreees Fahrenheit).
Nyrians use a sophisicated translocator to beam Nyrians to an approaching vessel, pretending to be disoriented. The arrival of Nyrians continues as they systematically replace the crew of the ship with Nyrians while translocating the other race to a preprogrammed habitat on a bio-sphere ship. Apparently the ship is then used by the Nyrians for defense of their territory.
Following the escape of Captain Janeway, and others of the Voyager crew, they were able to translocate the Nyrian leader to one of the boispeheres where the temperature was -20 degrees Celcius. This environment proves fatal to Nyrians in approximately five to ten minutes. Threatening to translocate all of the Nyrians, Janeway was able to convice the Nyrians to surrender. Ninety-four other races were released from the Nyrian bio-sphere ship following the Nyrian surrender.
