The Botha have a reputation in their region of space of being very territorial even though many think they have no rightful claim to the space they occupy. Ships entering Botha space without authorization are often not seen again. USS Voyager made limited contact with the Botha in 2372 and this incident suggested that the Botha had advanced telepathic abilities that were either a physical trait of their race or the result of some unknown technology.
