What I believe in
"AN IT HARM NONE, DO AS YOU WILL"
It seems so easy, just eight little words to live by. This, on casual inspection, without any depth of thought, has led to much criticism by outsiders. Not so! These eight words target and direct our energies for the universal good.There in no license to act inconsiderately, or without thought. We accept responsibility for all our actions.
Our workings, tempered by the Rede, define "Harm" in all spheres, including the physical, mental, spiritual and psychic. Contravention of the Rede has to us obvious karmic comeback.
Our choices are not lightly made, on the spur of the moment. Because all thoughts have power, a projection of even a negative thought regarding another, could have serious repercussions.
The effect of the gentle beating of the wings of a butterfly in my garden is felt, ultimately,
across the globe. So are all actions, thoughts and feelings. All living things are related to each other. We are part of, and come from, all matter in the universe. We are indeed, part of the cosmic dust from which all stars have their origin. All our actions have therefore, a direct influence on the very fabric of the cosmos, and as such a situation of "Carte Blanch" simply
does not exist. Because we tend to operate within strict parameters, and having due knowledge of the workings of natural energies, workings are not performed lightly, or with frivolous intent. To manipulate the weather, as an example, to have a clear or dry day for a sports function, is unthinkable and irresponsible. This action will invariably have serious effects on the normal weather patterns, with cataclysmic results. We therefore know and are willing to accept responsibility for our actions and what will result from them.
Therefore, the point being made is the following : "While Witches are free to influence
energies to accomplish a purpose, they are not free to manipulate people. 'For the good of
all', should be the real reason one does a spell."

Some call this Karma, or the Law of Universal Returns. Reduced to basics, this is the
natural law of "cause and effect". Our Deities charge us to exercise extreme caution
in all that we, as Wiccans, do, say and even think. The law follows the premise of "as you sow, so shall you reap". Because acts of revenge or harm, will be returned to the sender threefold, we will not engage in activities that is not for the good of all. When we understand the Three-Fold Law and it's effects, it acts like a prohibition, but also serves as a blessing. We seek to heal and to help all of Life, and when we are working for "the good of all", it is natural that the "good" will come to us also. But it falls on us multiplied and empowered.
