How to Save my Soul
I am the Captain of the Ship, I am the Master of my Destiny. I respect your right to choose your religion, and deserve reciprocation in that respect. My faith does not seek to convert you to my path, and does not have the audacity to believe it is "The One True Path". I do not demean your Deities, or seek to desecrate your places of worship. I welcome interaction, on a mature level, where open mindedness will allow us to explore and discuss, with a view to learning from each other, our different belief systems. Properly initiated, this can only lead to spiritual growth and enlightenment for all.
I believe in reincarnation, I believe my soul is immortal. I do not believe you, or any person for that matter, can "save" my soul. This however, is a personal matter, and if your views on the state of your own soul differ from mine, I am prepared to accept that. I believe in the universal right to exercise freedom of choice, for all individuals. On this basis you are free to seek salvation, for yourself, if you so desire, without tampering or interference by others. Similarly,
I expect the same respect and treatment. It is my view, that tampering without the express
consent of the recipient is in direct contravention of my freedom of choice, freedom of association, freedom of religious affiliation, and indeed, in my belief system, in contravention of the Rede.
I have, after much study, and having spent most of my life, trying to be a Christian, without the spiritual upliftment I needed, found a path that satisfies my emotional and spiritual needs. It will therefore be a pointless exercise to quote chunks from the Bible to me. Having read my
Bible seven times, I feel I have a certain base knowledge on the subject matter, and probably know the Word better than most. Religious dogma bores me to tears, as do platitudes and parables, originally written for illiterate and superstitious peasant stock. The message of Salvation may have value in your faith, and the concept of the Anti-Christ, as the satanic counterpoint to good and therefore God is a necessary element in your faith. In my case, not having the concept of good Vs. evil deities does not allow me the luxury of the common excuses "The Devil tempted me" or "It is God's Will". I assume responsibility for my actions and weaknesses, and cannot apportion blame to any, other than myself. I am the Captain of the Ship, I am the Master of My Destiny.
