It's a good idea to make sure the dog enters from the opposite side from the traveler.
The scene: A Man sits in the center of the stage, stirring a pretend pot of beans.
A Traveler enters from one side
Traveler: Hi, what are you cooking?
Man: Just a pot of beans, want some?
The traveler sits down next to the man.
Traveler: Sure!
The man hands the traveler a plate.
Man: Help yourself.
The traveler takes the plate and looks at it.
Traveler: Has this been washed?
Man: Yep. It was washed by three rivers just a ways back.
Traveler: All right, if you say so.
The traveler starts dishing beans onto the plate. He pauses just as he's about to eat.
Traveler: Are you really sure this was washed?
Man: Just like I told you, it was washed by three rivers.
Travler If you say so.
The traveler starts eating. After he finishes the beans, he hands the plate back to the man. The man takes the plate and whistles.
Man: Here Three Rivers! Here boy!
The dog runs out on stage and starts licking the plate.
