The Pajama Party

Stealthily, the dark figure crept around the hallways in search of her targets. She observed many of them entering and leaving their quarters, and calculated carefully for when to strike...In each of the quarters she visited, she left a PADD with a simple message: "You are invited to the senior officers' pajama party tomorrow at 20:30 in Holodeck 2. RSVP to Captain Kathryn Janeway via PADD left  in her ready room. Please bring some good ghost stories, pajamas, suggestions for new holodeck programs, and a good mood."

Chakotay arrived on Holodeck 2 about 20 minutes early, wondering if the captain needed a hand setting things up for the party. At least, that's what he was *trying* to tell himself. Deep down, he knew that he just wanted to spend extra time with Kathryn.
Stepping through the Holodeck's entrance, he saw his captain dragging a large table across the floor. The room around her was set up as a large old-fashioned bedroom, including posters on the walls, a desk, a rocking chair in the corner, and a bed. The whole place looked very friendly, and perfect for a pajama party.
Noticing the Commander standing by the doorway, the captain dropped the end of the table she was dragging, and stood up abruptly.
"Hello! I didn't realize you were already here!" she said in a hurry. Chakotay grinned in spite of himself. He knew she didn't want to lose her authorative Capatain's Stance, and being seen struggling with a large table was definitely not very captain-like.
"Hi. Do you need some help with that?" Chakotay asked.
"Oh, no, thanks! I'm doing quite--oof--well," the Captain panted, attempting to turn the table the other way.. Chakotay merely shook his head and smiled, admiring Kathryn's determination.
Just then, another person entered the Holodeck. Janeway and Chakotay turned to see Harry Kim walk in, dragging a small duffel bag behind him.
"Hi there. Um, I'm early, right?" he asked.
"Yes, Harry, welcome to the party!" Janeway answered. Within minutes, Tom and B'Elanna entered the room, followed by Seven, who looked rather reluctant to be there. Five minutes later, the Doctor activated himself in the Holodeck, and then Tuvok arrived, obviously disapproving the unproductive use of time. Apparently, the captain had actually ordered him to come. Neelix was ("unfortunately") unavailable, because he was working on a very complex and attention-needy Leola root recipe.

After everyone was in their pajamas (two large closets had served as dressing rooms), the whole staff of senior officers clustered around a bottle in the middle of the floor. This was a new game to everybody but the twentieth century history buff, Thomas Eugene Paris.
"Tom, would you care to enlighten us as to how this game is played?" asked Janeway. Tom nodded, rubbing his hands together with an impish grin on his face.
Once the rules had been completely explained, the game began. Many people were surprised the captain approved of it.
"So, who spins first?" she asked. Tom gave her the honors. With a quick flick of her wrist, the captain spun the bottle. As the bottle spun, many people held their breath. Some even closed their eyes. Still, everybody in that room was willing the bottle to end up pointing at nobody other than Commander Chakotay. Everyone thought Janeway and Chakotay would be a very cute couple.
As if the sheer willpower of the people in the room had forced it to, the bottle landed facing the commander. The captain blushed, but leaned over to quickly give her commander a peck on the cheek. Noticing the helmsman shaking his head at her, she gave in, and gave the commander a peck on the lips. Cheers erupted around the room from everybody (except Tuvok, who clapped).
After many spins (which involved exchanges of kisses between Harry and Seven, B'Elanna and Tom, and Tuvok and Seven), everyone drifted around the room, chatting and laughing. Harry, though, went directly to Tom for a chat.
"Um, Tom?" he asked, making sure no one was within hearing range, "Some of those spins were VERY *coincidental*. You know, first the captain and commander, then me and Seven...it almost seems as if the bottle was rigged or something. I wonder who could have done that??"
"Really? I didn't notice a thing! I think it was fate," Tom replied. They both laughed, knowing Tom's little secret, and went to get some punch.

By later that evening, two new Holodeck programs had been created, everyone had told a wide variety of ghost stories, and most people were half asleep. When Janeway suggested that they all go to bed, nearly everyone agreed.Seven, though, had to return to her alcove to regenerate, and the Doctor had to transfer himself to Sickbay to get some work done. This left Janeway, Chakotay, Tuvok, Paris, Torres, and Kim.
Reluctantly, they all eventually crawled into their sleeping bags. As they talked quietly about the events of the day, and how much they'd all enjoyed the party, Kathryn and Chakotay gazed into each others eyes, masked by the darkness. As they fell asleep side by side, their hands lay intertwined between them--their only witness, the night.
