Flynn smiled, as he saw the look on his landlords face. "It's all there. Three months, plus two in advance."
His landlord, quickly counted the money, and with a shrug and a mumble, excused himself.
Flynn felt good. It had been long since he'd paid his rent by his winnings at the pool table. Yesterday had been his lucky day. That and his paycheck bought him a few more months at his appartment.
He didn't know if he should go to that barbeque. By Kate's invitation Flynn knew the others would probably bring their partners, and he didn't want to get stuck there on his own. But, maybe this was a chance to get to know them better. And a chance to get together, without certain doom hanging above their heads. So finally he decided to go.
He parked his car, nearby the adress of Kate, and locked it. It was a nice day, plenty of sun, and no cloud in sight. He slowly walked towards the house, remembering some of his old barbeques, back home. The slow family style, the laughter but most of all the togetherness. He missed it. Now as he was about to step into that house, and experience a ~city~ barbeque, he realized how much he missed home. And...her.. Flynn shook the memory away, and rang the bell.
