This gunner's fame has perhaps been generally more focused on the coloring phantom "blue Bluestreak" toy figure (his actual frame has always been seen as silver, grey, and black within both the animated series as well as the comic) rather than upon his person and personality. Still, Bluestreak has gained a place within one of the memorable characters within his own right methinks.
As regarded within his profile this Autobot is a survivor with a strong spirit as well as a fighter. Bluestreak is haunted by memories of witnessing firsthand the total destruction of his own home city by Decepticons on Cybertron near the beginning of the war itself. Hes constantly plagued by the terrifying sights and sounds which met him that fateful day. And then to learn he alone was the sole survivor of that savage and brutal assault afterwards. The Autobot suffers from what is known as Survivors Syndrome that remains untouched despite his gathered years. When hes alone he questions why he was the one who had been spared while all his countrymen perished. Why wasnt he taken as well? Why was he still alive when, by all accounts, he should be dead? And yet, when it comes down to the bottom line, Bluestreak is a survivor. Life is worth the struggle. Its worth the fight -- even when all else would declare otherwise.
Bluestreak certainly isn't alone. His story is not overly unique. Many Autobots, "Neutrals", and Decepticons for that matter, share a common legacy, a common bond. His history may be shared by countless others. What causes this lone gunner to stand on his own? Perhaps not much. But perhaps enough.
Bluestreak is known for speaking ceaselessly as well as senselessly and without much thought. This, of course, is not very wise or advisable for anyone since speaking without thinking can oftentimes lead one into trouble that could have been avoidable. Its not that Bluestreak means ill will or offense. His mouth just often moves faster than his CPU. And there are reasons behind why he acts the way he does that may or may not be readily noticeable.
This Gunner detests war. He hates the fighting, the destruction, shattered lives, the loss of life, all of it. With good reason. And he would prefer to turn his thoughts, his focus on something --anything-- other than the almost constant war. He tries to maintain somewhat of a child-like spirit. Hes enamored by anything new and unbelievably curious. Hes highly inquisitive of his surroundings. And Earth enthralls him to no end especially. It is so much unlike Cybertron. Teeming with countless life. Boundless mysteries that he, as a mechanoid, would not have been previously exposed to on his homeworld. So much to explore...and perhaps loose himself. At times this can be a hazard as it leads him to leave his guard down whenever he happens to be exploring. Its so tempting for him to try and learn about this organic world. And why not? Does Cybertron really hold that much for him any longer?
Despite his own feelings towards war Bluestreak does realize that he managed to survive the total destruction of his city for a particular reason. Even now, he does not fully know what that reason is. Yet, its enough for him to understand he is now in the position as an Autobot to try and help stop the Decepticons from shattering more lives so that hopefully no one would have to go through what he had to. There are many instances he is prone to discouragement as he watches the Decepticons advance and take ground. He merely reminds himself not to give up. If he doesnt fight, who will? This may appear as a paradox given his aforementioned feelings towards the war and his role. But he dont see it that way. The Autobots saved him after he had been found injured and alone after his city was decimated. In a strong way, he feels as if he owes them. But thats not the only reason for his loyalty. Hes not only aiding his comrades within the continuing struggle against a rising oppressive and tyrannical force. Hes also finding reason within his own life as well. And maybe hes trying to find a way to make amends to those victims who failed to survive that age-old assault as well.
Battles are fought on more than one field. These personal struggles decide the war. The ones only the mind can see.
