Alca

Man of few Words

Alca

History: Born to Helena first of Magova in the back country of the Great Divide Mountain range. Fifty Leagues south of the Northern Sea. Alca had an older brother Uim and Sister Eyku. Part of the Ragga tribe. Known for Nomadic hunting style. Father Flyafre was leader of the tribe that numbered thirty souls. Alca grew up the strongest amongst his peers, fearing none of them. Reserved and thoughtful in times of peace. Alca is quick to anger when wronged, almost berserk in battle. He cares little for wealth or possessions except for his mighty sword. Alca keeps his word and always fulfills contracts. Alca dislikes senseless killing and hates the killing of women and children. Ragga tribe was normally peaceful but had many confrontations with the Tefuso and L'Mnnvj tribes. Alca grew up quickly because of his size. In Alca's fifteenth year the tribe was decimated by the attack of a large contingent of mounted soldiers wearing the symbol of crossed swords. Alca was taken prisoner and put into slavery. After three years of hard labor on a Merchant ship Alca escaped by swimming all night in a storm somehow safely finding shore. Joining several different causes as mercenary Alca to this day seeks the murderers of his tribe and holds out hope that others of his family survived. Alca feels uncomfortable in dwellings preferring the outdoors. He doesn't mind cities but tires of them quickly. He gives away huge sums of treasure for a single nights pleasure. Drinks to access when celebration is in order. Sometimes willing to right a wrong, especially if it involves a beautiful woman. Alca has not been known to be humble.

A small task

As was frequently the case with Garon and Alca the plan didn't quite fit the deed. That spinster Shandra had them right where she wanted them, in the city during the daylight. Oh, it seemed like a grand plan when she had explained it all to them the night before over ale and a side of steer. "Slip in and out like the breeze", Shandra had quipped over and again. Of course, when you've had a few to many and your current employer is a blonde, blue eyed siren like Shandra, taking a castle by sled dog seems possible. Shandra owned the Lucky Lad Tavern and the name described the business exactly. Shandra had one customer, a local Merchant stiff one of her girls. Well, the Merchant in question was held well in regard by the Guild and Shandra knew if she wanted to exact her weight in gold she was going to have to do it on her own. That's where Garon and Alca came into the picture. All they had to do was sneak into his shop while he was away and grab the owed amount. Whatever else we could filch would be gravy. Larry the Quick worked for the Merchant and must have been tipped off about our little heist. Larry the Quick nailed Garon with a crossbow and Alca took him down for good! While waiting for Garon to quit complaining three more thugs appear at the end of the alley. Alca thinks quickly and comes up with an idea. "Garon", says Alca, "What in the name of the Gods are you doing on the ground!" Garon whimpers, "It hurts", while clutching at his mangled leg. With typical irreverence Alca grabs him up and throws him over his shoulder. "Owww…", cries out the Gnome. "Ah, quit yer belly ach'n, puffs Alca, I got ta git us outa here now!" Launching himself onto the empty barrel and through the window back into the Merchant's shop. Crashing into the floor trying not to injure further the Gnome on his shoulder Alca stumbles to his feet glancing around the room hurriedly. Spying a bag of black pepper sitting on a nearby shelf, Alca grabs for his dagger with his free hand and slashes the bag open with a sweeping cut. A commotion sounds behind him as the three men are scrambling through the window. Sheathing the dagger Alca grabs the ripped bag and holding his breath throws it at the closest one. Alca gets lucky and hits the lead man in the forehead. The bag sprays black powder all over the three men and they commence to sneezing and coughing. Still holding his breath, Alca brushes past the three men and jumps out the window landing on the barrel badly. Twisting through the air Alca manages to land safely in the alley and makes his escape with the Gnome.

Finding himself a passanger on board the Sea Witch, Alca prepares for the new adventure that awaits past the timeless ocean.

More as it comes.
