(Rosepatch Press ) King Caine's secret police gunned down hundreds of protestors in the capital of Aquitania today after three days of near-riot conditions. Secret police have reportedly begun a mass pogrom and liquidation of suspected enemies of the state. The entire city is under martial law, and city dump trucks have been used to haul bodies off to mass graves.
Protests began when news broke that Crown Princess Zariya was instrumental in gaining special protective escorts for Lady Pearl's cargo ships in amber. Lady Pearl's Amber operations are owned in a joint venture with Trinity-Kappella Enterprises (TKE) owning 49% of the corporation.
TKE is the military-industrial combine that accounts for most of the private-sector economy of Trinity and Kappella. The multinational corporation is wholly owned by members of House Mecklenberg and headed by King Reinhart's wife, Queen Sarah. It is intimately entwined with and probably inseperable from the Trinity and Kappella governments and the royal house.
The Mecklenbergs are bitter enemies of Aquitania, and members of House Mecklenberg have outstanding charges against them for the wholesale slaughter of Aquitanian allies and citizens. Mecklenbergs are accountable for the mass liquidation of alien populations in Ygg and elsewhere. Senior members of the house, to include Reinhard, Tiberius, and Art are counted among some of Caine's bitterest enemies and have sworn to destroy Aquitania and drive a stake through Caine's heart. The evidence of collaboration between the Aquitanian Crown Princess and the bitterest enemies of the kingdom is undoubtedly behind the violent civil unrest.
