The notorious oubliette of Lord Paolo's keeps is a standard feature that has been used in the past for anyone who offended the Lord of Avernus and Firenze.

Haven University Amber Watchers are speculating if this was a political shift in Paolo towards the GPC or is it that the Amber Princess offended him.

Said Professor Willbury of the Haven University Department of Amber History, "This is indicative that Paolo will not be spoken down to by King Oberon. Arresting an envoy would be a grevious offence in the GPC however in Oberon's rough and tumble world that operates with different rules, this could be a message or it could be that she screwed up." The professor noted how Scherazade was central to King Jason's decision to throw her and her aunt, Princess Zariya, Oberon's Ambassador, out of Neuvo Sangre.

Local Demon Lutterkin in Amber reminded reporters out of the Haven Embassy that Paolo has had a long history of trouble with Scherazade's family. "After all, Don Paolo chopped off the hands of Ricky, Scherazade's father. Maybe's he's wanting to get his hands on Ricky's money that is being held under trustee ship of Kirk of Rolandae and Princess Royal Swayvanna." The Rolandae Monarch is Rick's half brother and Swayvanna is their mother.

Meanwhile at the King Finndo Institute at the University of Haven, Lieutenant General Clyde Clydesdale (retired) suspected that Oberon was not the only problem Paolo has to face. "Sand and Delwin made a truce with Mecklenberg that is holding. They are using this time to wreak havoc on the Patternlands Lord. Seems to me Sand has a very old, very nasty grudge involving the death of a grandson by Paolo's sword and the shipping of his head to her and King Robert of Sable in a basket."

The Dealunde General who was at the Battle of Dealunde Bridge observed that Paolo is a feared soldier with little to fear from Sand and Delwin militarily." Sand and Delwin are more into secret societies, black magic, conspiracies and avoid open war. They have tried and Kelric and the Mecks kick their butt with regularity." The general speculated that they may aid the Gheneshi and even their neighbouring Abyss hags into attacking Paolo. "It would not surprise me. The Gheneshi are hungry for battle and the hags are irritated at Paolo for years and are not happy with Oberon tricking them again."

Local Demon Lutterkin remarked,"I think Paolo will have some trouble."
