Word passes like wildfire through the alleyways and streets of Amber City. There has been an ugly, leaden feeling hanging in the air since the personal threats of violence went out. However, being good hosts as they are, it would hardly be right to see guests leave without some sort of send off.
All the departing Mahaji natives can see the crowds thickening as they pack up their shops and get their belongings together to travel. When they start to move, that's when the first rotten tomato flies. It's like a signal and the crowd jeers, shouting insults and racist epithets at them as they go. Slimy cabbages, rotten apples, tomatos, oranges, animal dung and other sorts of offal are thrown.
It's almost like a holiday spirit running through the electrified crowds as they send them off.
